According to what I've seen the game isn't out until the 26th, are preorders being granted already? If so I might see about ordering it ASAP.
Maybe it's just the steam version I'm thinking of, who knows.
It's released in EU on the 26th but US on 23rd...lucky bastards!
I intend to pick up my results on Thursday and hope they are good enough to persuade my parents to buy it for me...Leverage ftw :D

YES YES YES!!!
Take THAT Invisible War! It CAN be done right!
I am so stoked to get my copy on Friday, I had some serious fear that I would be disappointed after a 10 year wait, but it sounds like it was totally worth it.

100's and high 90's are handed out far to often. Praise comes easy from publishers afraid of what might happen with developers, and with a title like Deus Ex, Nostalgia glasses are a given. I love Deus Ex, I'm excited to play it and give it a shot because I was disappointed by the last DE game...plus it's my kind of RPG...

...but...

...I'll wait for Yhatzee.
You'll wait for a man who's job is much more entertainment than actual reviewing? Well, have fun with that opinion.
First, they could be waiting for his Extra Punctuation commentary on it, which is often very intelligent and insightful.

Second, anyone who watches his videos regularly can differentiate between the times he's genuinely bagging on something, and the times he's just having a laugh.

Can't you tell on your own if a game is good or not? I mean, I'll also wait for ZP, but for the giggles, even if he says it's worse than Kane and Lynch 2, I know I'll still like this game.

Until that you might want to learn how to spell it properly. And no one takes Yahtzee's reviews very seriously. It's just for entertainment. His job is to find flaws and exaggerate them.

Gah, I want this game so much, but I have to save up money to buy a new PC.

Maybe I'll rent the PS3 version...

This bodes well for my expectations of Thief 4. I'll be okay with the wait if Eidos Montreal ends up making great games.

I have it pre-ordered and I'm looking forward to trying it I haven't read any reviews because I don't want spoilers but It's nice that it's getting a good reception at least.

A 100/100 score seems a bit ridiculous to me though I mean surely there must be something wrong with it...right?
Of course there's something wrong with it. But reviewers all have their own style of representing scores.

That's one of many problems with Metacritic and score system for reviews in general. That's also why i prefer "impressions" reviews like GiantBomb or TotalBiscuit do, since they actually give me information and show the feel of the game way better than stars/points/dots/hearts/whatever else various magazines come out with.

Problem with rigid scales is once you give a game a 10, what to do when even better game comes out?

Look at the original, then look at the new one.
The level design of this game isn't actually that good, and neither is the gameplay.

All you do to complete a level is dodge enemies behind chest high walls. So, the level design doesn't bring anything that exiting.

The gameplay is awful as well. Everything you can touch has a luminous orange border just incase you miss anything.

Of course, this is only me justifying my long list of reasons I hate this game(The most prominent one being that it was published by Square Enix).

Love the game if you want to, just admit its flaws.

I played the demo of it, and was actually very impressed. I dont preorder anymore, but maybe ill walk past a game store on thursday and maybe ill have $120 in my pocket.

Also, this game has a Final Fantasy joke. Which, considering its published by Square Enix, really made me laugh.

A friend of mine is telling me its pretty much perfect. Have yet to personally try it out though.

His exact words were "its like Mass Effect meets a better shooter/Splinter Cell depending on your play style."
Like Mass Effect?

ABORT! ABORT! ABORT!

Awww maaan! And here I was looking forward to it, even though it removed the mechanical elements that made the first two great.

No regenerating health,
No wall hugging,
No chest high walls,
No quick time events,
Map exploration,
Stealth/Diplomacy encouraged,
Lots of rich conspiracy involving familiar organisations - the whole anti-synthetic limbs movement is a little bit... err, lame,
Cool sounding voice actors - even Alex D's male voice was actually nice, Adam sound a bit like he's trying too hard so far,
DE1; Individual limb health,
The list goes on.

I'm still buying the game though. And I may even buy it at full price to support official release! O_O

I just played the game for about 2 hours, and I'm liking it so far. It plays a lot like cover-based shooters in a way, yes, but there's also a huge, rich world surrounding it, with tons of dialogue and all that.

One of my little nitpicky complaints is the voice actor for the main character... I dunno, it sounds a little bit too raspy, and a bit emotionless, in a boring way. I'll probably get used to it, though.

I'm fairly surprised, I was pretty sure it was going to end up like Invisible War.

Seriously, that many 100/100s?
If it's even 3/4s as impressive as these reviewers are saying I'd say it's a worthwhile purchase. I figure I'd wait for some actual feedback before buying the game, but it's looking like a must-by at the moment.

Any comments, Escapees?
You need to understand that the first game was {literally} the second coming of christ. (JC Denton, *cough* *cough*)
It HAD to be great and fantastic to top that.

It's very sad that our standards of quality have dropped so far that Mass Effect is currently a basis for comparison for Deus Ex and not the other way around.

It was made by Eidos. It's been in-the-making by Eidos since well before Square acquired them. Square's the publisher, not the developer. Same thing with Batman: Arkham Asylum and Just Cause 2.

That's what they WANT you to think! They'll look all slick and great, but then after you pre-order it and install it - BAM! Cover based shooter with stealth elements.
