They should make a game shortly after Human Revolution where a genetic virus has been released which will erase the memories of everyone between the years 2053 and 2073, and it's up to you to stop it. The final choice for choosing to let the virus go through is a video montage with a character voice-over, and right before the credits start it says "Just be thankful you didn't pick the other ending." Then bam, everyone wakes up in 2073 wondering why they aged 20 years (or were born for that matter), not remembering a thing.

The other ending will be to stop the virus from circulating. Much like with Eliza at the end of HR, it will ask "Are you sure this is your choice?" but it will do it in a special way. If your mouse hovers over "Yes" for more than a millisecond a virus is uploaded to your computer which forces you to play Invisible War before your computer becomes fully functional again. If they don't kill themselves then they'll have to change their mind.

Bam, problem solved.

End of the day? The game cannot be re-created. (Deus Ex 1 was a masterpiece that shall never be redone) For those of you that are asking for it to be re-made without the technical faults that plagued the first installment, you don't realize, or refuse to accept, that it was made years ago and from a (relatively) Indy-studio.

Of course they could not make the game of the quality of a AAA-studio, with production values that were through the roof. On the other hand, though, the story was awesome, and the characters and story-line evolved through your actions.

Killed too many people? You would hear about it through an in-game cut scene. Could it be re-made or re-created in a sequel? Probably. However - it would require a studio that was more interested in producing a kick-ass story and very immersive experience over a graphically awesome yet shallow game, the likes of which we are accustomed to now.

I, for one, hope that the studio that is more interested in game play and story driven games returns, and quickly.

As someone who tried and failed to get into the supposedly great original game, I wouldn't mind seeing a remake that eliminates technical flaws and fixes shortcomings (by today's standards). You know, give it swanky graphics, include the autosave function, update core mechanics (stealth and so on), make the crossbow stun gun less useless, etc.
this. a modern remake of Deus Ex, and i'll give you all my moneys.

I can only hope (in vain) they go the BioShock Infinite route and make a spiritual sequel rather than an actual one.
While this would be very interesting, I doubt they'd have the guts to do it. And probably with good reason since I suspect that the fanbase, such as it is, would go apeshit.

Unless it's a carbon copy don't even think of a Deus Ex remake.

If anything write IW out of existence with a proper one, and after that I suggest putting it to rest, branch out and do something new.
I would love it if the DE mechanics got used further but do pick up a new story, chocolate doesn't taste good after you had toomuch.

A HD update of the original game (while leaving EVERYTHING except the graphics intact) would be nice, but frankly I've played the original game a short while back, and the horribly outdated graphics took nothing away from the experience.
Eh, that seems like a bit of a waste of time.

If they were to redo the graphics, re-record the voice acting and re-write the story and dialogue into something decent I might be willing to pay for a remake.

But of course something that bold and interesting would no doubt result in blood being spilled.

Well... I have no idea about anything that takes place during the original game, but maybe have a sequel with Jensen working on some events that go behind the scenes of the first game.

One thing I noticed in Human Revolution is that it was a STRICTLY faithful sequel, only changing a few things (enough things, mind, plenty to bring it up to the modern era and make it competent), and I'm assuming this was on purpose. They stuck to the original forula and just updated it for the modern age. That's why I tend to call it a reboot more than a sequel.
You sir are an idiot.

It's a prequel reboot, from what that is gathered DX is going to be re-imagined. Like what the newest Star Trek(2009) was to TOS.
You sir, are wrong.

DE:HR is written to be within the same continuity as the original.

What I actually meant was a new franchise, not just a new setting using the Deus Ex brand. But yeah, the publishers, Square Enix, aren't exactly known for introducing new IPs to the market.

Although I can already hear the terrible accents.
Terrible accents? Go buggar yourself.

Cockney English, ex-confederate states of the US, South African and New Zealand all have worse accents then us.

That said I would love to see a DX game set here, as there are not very many titles set in Australia.

On the note of accents, there are plenty of Aussies who're willing to voice act, they tend to be in Australia, but you know, that's the problem with Aussies.

I seriously wanted to mute Dead Island, my brother was playing and only got as far as the bit right at the start where you get your first weapon (the oar/paddle) and it was bad.

We kept cringing and saying, "Crikey Moses!", "Stone the flamin' crows!", "Bluddy Hell!", "Geez, Leweeze!", "Sheeeeelah, bring us a beeeer!"

Also, she didn't really look much like an Aboriginal, more African. I found that frustrating, it would have been nice to have a decent Aboriginal character in a game.

Lastly, Polish Devs, in Australia we don't get pissy at people for being Aboriginal and successful. (At least no one I've ever met does). It makes no sense, unless the game is set in the past about 10 years or so.

I'm not going to pretend that there's no racism in Australia, we're not that cool, but it's not as bad as it was portrayed in that chick's origin story. I don't know of anyone who'd actively give someone a hard time for being Aboriginal, (or a female copper for that matter) you'd get sacked and verbally abused by your co-workers for being a douche.
At the moment, the racists are all attacking people who look middle eastern/Arabic.

So "caring" means seeing every single interview? Huh. News to me.

And if it's a reboot, why does it fit into the story of the original? There's an absolute ton of continuity hooks, notably Joseph Manderley and Tracer Tong. If you even cared about DX:HR you would have noticed them while playing.

I hope they dial it up a bit for the next game.

One thing that irked me was that rather than picking a route and sticking to it, I ended up able to explore the whole map and hoover up every single bit of ammo etc. Make the skill branches mean something again. Heck, lets have that social aug LET us talk our way past the guard who wants to see our id, rather than just give us an extra sentence or two of dialogue.

Bring back weapon skills and melee weapons.

Lastly, strengthen up the plot. The plot wasn't BAD as such, but nowhere near as punchy as when you escape the prison and [REDACTED].

In terms of actual plot, all the ideas sound good. Redo DE1. Bridge the gap between DEHR and DE1. Definately erase DEIW from existance. Heck, do that even if you don't make a sequel.

A sequel to Invisible War or a sequel to the original Deus Ex? personally I'd love to see how Paul turns from UNATCO's new toy to double agent working for the NSF.
How come people keep mentioning Invisible War?
No such game exists or was ever released. There is only Deus Ex and Deus Ex:HR

I'd like to see a decent sequel to Deus Ex, that would be cool. Just pick one of the endings and make it canon. I nearly always pressed the reset button and burned it all down, but I don't mind playing a sequel where JC merges with Helios or joins the Illuminati, just pick one and stick to it, don't spread yourselves too thin. Just give us a decent story, in a clearly defined and detailed world, with boss fights that mean something and can be creatively overcome without resorting to direct confrontation, and no, I said NO FUCKING ALIENS!

Deus Ex shouldn't be remade and I think I and most other Deus Ex fans would be disappointed in any attempt that would end up neutering the experience of the original.

I would go with another game starting just before the events of Deus Ex with Paul as the Protaganist. They could then incorporate several significant crossover events between Paul and JC but Paul definately has his own story and agenda which leaves plenty of room for fresh content.
