Well part of what used to make a demo useful for developers is that it provided a barometer for playtesting by their target audience.

The topic title seems intentionally provocative and knee-jerk; I too am reserving judgment for after I play the demo myself.
If I recall correctly, the game has 'gone gold' and been put on disk (Its 4 days away here in Aus, if it hasn't 'gone gold' by now, they are going to have problems), thus, changes are unlikely to be made barring a complete recall of the game.

*Sigh* Its always money with these companies isn't it? Good PC games getting dumbed down so console players can have an easier time with them (and in this case, because the design team couldn't think of anything like a weapon wheel). Well, at least the BF3 team is doing it right: PCs First, Consoles second. Improves the game on both platforms. If only other developers would learn...

Really, they did an extra amount of work to dumb it down for the half a handful of dyslexic twats wouldn't be overwhelmed?

Fuck it, I'm getting it anyways. If that's the only problem needing tweaking(which it probably won't be), I'll just mod the limitation out.

yeah weapons wheels are as old as N64, which also had a duke game >.>
also there used to be a weapons wheel, and people are talking about mods. maybe i will cancel my pre-order for ps3 and switch to pc after i comes out and the mod is made.

Devs can delay the PC game to make a port for all I care, aslong as it's a good port. I can wait.
Making the PC game first with consoles already in mind, doesn't help at all.

Hah, it works fine on Duke Nukem' 3D on Xbox Live Arcade, so why shouldn't it work on DNF? Hey, in Borderlands you could have four weapons at once without much of a problem. Very odd.

*sigh*. To be fair, I'm probably still going to rent it to check it out. It looks like an evening or two's worth of fun. It honestly looked slightly decent in the launch trailer.

Because everybody knows no console game allows more than 2 weapons right Gearbox?
The funny thing is that as you mentioned Gearbox, I thought back to Brothers In arms and Borderlands. The sad thing is that we all know Gearbox can make decent games, but for no real reason they just slacked a bit with Duke Nukem. That makes me sad. Let's hope this game doesn't foreshadow the quality of Gearboxes future projects.

Also, my memory may be faltering, but didn't half-life 2 on the 360 and PS3 have, like, the exact smae content as it did on the PC? Maybe I'm just being silly, because clearly by default console games have to suck compared to their PC counterparts.

As for the mighty boot... I'm assuming thats some kind of kick?
It's not just a kick, it's a manifestation of Duke's manliness, used from everything to kicking ass (litterally) to shattering a frozen enemy, to kicking open doors.

The biggest shock of the demo for me was that there was no Mighty Boot to kick the boss eyeball with, that would have been a perfect time to use it.

What a load of poppycock. The N64 could handle all of Duke's badassery, so why does it need to be "dumbed down" now?

And before anyone says "consoles are where the sales are", most console players own PCs, ...
Thats actually exactly what the dev said.(that consoles are where the money is at)
yeah you could have made a better version on both platforms if they allowed multiple weapons and duke mnukem style gameplay. But gearbox apparantly believes the core console audience can't handle anything but a direct halo clone :_D Nothing against halo but it gets boring if so many games copy it.

I'm skeptical that was anyone of the real developers, because they can't be stupid enough to say it's not worth their time to have good mechanics...

I just hope the modding capabilities will let us fix their shit.

So what, us PC gamers will get the shit because consoles are dumb platforms?
This is like the stuff they did to xbox/ps3 games, nerfing the graphics on both console versions because the xbox did not have enough power.

Developers need to learn that their sales won't hinge on there being an extra button, or two extra seconds when you're picking a weapon.

And this is what happens if you try to talk shit about it...
That is a surprisingly accurate representation of how I feel whenever I say its shit xD

I still don't understand why people are saying "yeah, I know its shit but I'm going to buy it anyway."

To the devs, that just translates into "we did a good job!".

"Dumbed down for consoles" is just a developers way of saying "couldn't be bothered".If developers say this it is because they are hoping for PC owners to get more preoccupied with moaning at console owners than the developers themselves (the same is true for console owners when a game is badly ported to a console).

To be honest, if you want more buttons to use for the console version ask people to plug in a keyboard everyone has one and i'm pretty sure console manufacturers would be happy to make it compatible to be able to shift some extra hardware.

Console owners have done nothing wrong, the developers have.

it's not for console game but for console gamers that can't manage more than two weapons at time fucking consoles should burn.

Seriously! There have been a lot of threads about the demo and a lot of people keep talking about how they'll still get the game. I don't have much room to talk since I've admitted that I'm getting it too but I'm at least waiting for a significant price drop. Some of these people are dissatisfied with the demo and still plan to begrudgingly buy the game! It makes my brain leak that funny red stuff out of my ears.

Incidentally, I think I understand something now. Gearbox = Duke. We are the school-girls, tonsil-boxing over who gets to wax Duke's nob first.
