It may suck yes. But the game is about the character. I will sorely miss the mighty boot, as will I the ability to carry more than a rifle and a pistol at one time, but he's still duke. He's still the egotistical chauvinistic badass that we've come to know and love. And if we really care that much about the changes, perhaps gearbox will fix some of them with a patch.

The "carry all weapons" approach (given the worst and best possible outcome) gives as much incentive to use exotic weapons as the two-weapon limit, but without the choices and consequences.
Well I think you're quite overrating this whole "choice and consequence" thing.
If you could carry all weapons, even if the wacky ones weren't as effective, you could still use them every once in a while.
How am i overreacting with the choice and consequences? and you are still not addressing the point of equal incentive to use the exotic weapons, you are talking about a single possible outcome and not the main point, i.e. that in both worst possible outcomes there is equal incentive to use the exotic weapons.

Besides, how is choosing which shooter to use not a choice with consequences in itself and how exactly does infinitely regenerating health reflect "consequences" better than actually having to deal with the low health caused by your poor choice until you find the next few limited health packs?
My point about regen-health was not if it represented choice and consequence, but that most people hate it because it wasn't used in FPS's of old (and not whether its the right choice given the gameplay and design). I should have put "incidentally" in there to avoid confusion.

Serious Sam HD did this good on consoles - bumper buttons are used for next/previous weapon so the system was easily transferred from PC version. It's actually one of the rare games that could be enjoyed both on PC and console, can't understand why more developers don't use this method - next/prev for gamepad and scroll wheel + numbers for PC, it's a win-win situation.

That is my only grief with DNF demo (well, maybe the colors are a bit dark), Gearbox can probably fix this in a patch or something if enough people keep complaining.

Yay... another thread indirectly attacking console players.
No it isn't. Its about control schemes, not players. Don't be so sensitive, and read the OP.

For fuck sake people! You don't complain when Modern Warfare, Crysis 2, Black Ops, Halo or the vast majority of other FPS only allow you to carry 2 weapons, yet since its Duke Nukem and everybody seems to hate it (even those who haven't played the demo yet, you all jump on the bitching bandwagon...
Brings my piss to a boil

Why don't you, ya know, PLAY THE GAME BEFORE BITCHING ABOUT IT!

Also, why the hell do these "PC elitists" need to such fucking dicks?! I know its only a small minority of them but still...

OT: Only having 2 weapons makes no difference to me as long as the game plays well :)
Because all the people pining over DNF want a classic FPS, not CoD. And the demo was total shit - whoever's shouldering financial responsibility for it should be crying that this isn't the only thing seen as a problem.

I don't really see the problem here.
Honestly.
It has a two weapon system. Whoop-de-fuck.
Does that make a drastic difference to the game Duke Nukem Forever?
yes
its not duke nukem
duke has be around a long time, and has a distinctive personality that makes him, HIM
it was never about skill and difficulty, its about having every gun you got so far at any time so you could use any one you want to have FUN
only carrying 2 weapons will always force players to take practical weapons over fun ones. weapons like the shrink ray and freeze ray are more fun then functional, but will get little play time because players can't afford to use them.
duke was made before halo's 2 weapons system, and it worked the best with out it.
I see that you omitted the answer to that rhetorical question, which was, and I quote "Well.....I....I don't know. I haven't played the fucking game. I don't know how the devs have implemented it."
The burden of proof, as it were, lies on you.
Can you present evidence that DNF doesn't adhere to the spirit of Duke Nukem as of this moment?

This is ridiculous. All of those features have previously been implemented on consoles quite well. The developers are just trying to give their poor choices a scapegoat that a lot of people on the internet are predisposed to believe.

The only thing in that article that really bugs me is the Dev saying "We didn't feel like letting you carry more than two guns because every other shooter is doing it and we want to be like them." I thought Duke was supposed to push the envelope and be different than other shooters. It's just sad to see the devs saying they want it to be as close to other games as they can make it, because they say it works.

This is Duke sodding Nukem. And he can only carry two weapons? Seriously?

That said, there are worse things that could go wrong with a game like this.

lol @ all of the PC elitist morons getting another dose of reality. Another moment foreshadowing console gaming slowly but surely making PC gaming irrelevant.
It has nothing to do with consoles despite yer usual misleading title on here but more with the developers making bad decisions and trying to justify them in a pathetic way.
Its not my title, but go ahead and just keep your head in the sand.
Maybe you could consider not trolling and instead be constructive. Nothing you have said has any constructive use and only serves to incite a flame war.

Also, you apparently don't know that much about PC gaming. Dying huh? Go tell that to Blizzard, Valve, or Bioware for example.

Steam? WoW? Yeah they are totally unsuccessful and definitely not making obscene amounts of money and have a large user base.

I wasn't planning to get DNF at release, I have too many games in my queue already, but it's still disappointing to hear that PC gamers are being saddled with lazy gamepade restrictions like this. Hopefully by the time I can pick this up they will have fixed this.

I am honestly dumbstruck by this.

I have to admit I am a PC elitest, but this is so damn sad.

A core game that was on the pc and even refined what could be done with an FPS is now dumbed down because of console... sigh.
The console could have easily done what they cut out. The dev's just lack any ingenuity at all. Like many have suggested a simple weopan wheel would have served nicely, or even my D-pad Idea. Don't blame the console just because the dev's are incompetent.
In the end, it still comes down to this : "They went with the 2 weapon system because of consoles"

I know they could have done it in some other way, but they didn't.

Case Closed.

Fucking morons. They're too lazy? We waited 13 years for this game, we can wait another one as long as you don't fuck it up! Patch it for the love of Atheismo!!
