Nope, do not avoid! Im sorry but is this really surprising to anyone? A developer using the cheapest way out instead of actually taking their time to make proper use of the advantages of certain platforms (in this case, the PC).
Its fucking Duke Nukem Forever, dude. If there's one thing they've taken, its time.
Im not talking about development time. I mean this game began development during the 5th console generation and we are in the 7th now.

Im talking about the fact that this shit happens all the time nowadays. They have to dumb down a game in order to make it playable on consoles and then the PC version suffers as well.

Yes I can understand how disappointing it is, considering just how long we've been waiting for this game and the fact that its fucking Duke Nukem!!!

But I still don't see this as a reason to boycut the game alltogether.

That and I would appreciate a gaming thread that for once doesn't devolve into blind console hate.

Uhm... What? I would like to point out that there were working console versions of Duke Nukem 3D, I mean.... WTH? Who are these incompetent people who have to "dumb down" features that actually worked on Ps1!? I am speechless, they are actually saying they're gonna release a game that have a prequel on Ps1 that's more complex... You really have to make an effort to be THAT lazy :p

This is a load of crap. Console games are capable of having more than 2 weapons at a time. They just want to jump on the console tards bandwagon so they don't have to admit that they did a lazy job and couldn't give a shit.

/rant
Oh God, this. Don't blame the consoles, blame the fucking developers. They're the ones responsible for the game.

For fuck sake people! You don't complain when Modern Warfare, Crysis 2, Black Ops, Halo or the vast majority of other FPS only allow you to carry 2 weapons, yet since its Duke Nukem and everybody seems to hate it (even those who haven't played the demo yet, you all jump on the bitching bandwagon...
Brings my piss to a boil
A lot of us HAVE been complaining about two weapon restrictions, cover shooting and regenerating health ever since the first Halo came out, I certainly have. Modern Warfare is a terrible, bland and completely uninteresting franchise to me. The only way I can contemplate people having any fun in them at all is if they're all gun nuts who want "real" weapons. Even then it doesn't make much sense since that's pretty much where the realism ends, make a game where one shot to a non-vital area has you incapacitated and on the ground screaming in pain and maybe I'll give the realism excuse more respect.

Still wouldn't make them good video games, though.

I am honestly dumbstruck by this.

I have to admit I am a PC elitest, but this is so damn sad.

A core game that was on the pc and even refined what could be done with an FPS is now dumbed down because of console... sigh.
The console could have easily done what they cut out. The dev's just lack any ingenuity at all. Like many have suggested a simple weopan wheel would have served nicely, or even my D-pad Idea. Don't blame the console just because the dev's are incompetent.
In the end, it still comes down to this : "They went with the 2 weapon system because of consoles"

I know they could have done it in some other way, but they didn't.

Case Closed.
As I said, blame dev ignorance, not the platform.

Also this is fucking retarded, the real reason they dumbed it down? Cause gamers these days don't know what's good anymore, they all want their games to be 'realistic" fucking ass fucks.
This. The FPS games went downhill after Halo became such a massive cash cow and developers realized they could make a lot more money pandering to the much larger demographic who preferred dumbed down "realism" games over games that had actual fun in them.
In Halo, you can jump eight feet in the air, firing rockets at an alien tank. The force of those rockets propel you upwards each time you fire them.
When have you ever seen a soldier in a real life battle situation leap up into the air (and momentarily fly) firing rockets at a tank?
Have you ever seen a soldier release a giant bubble to protect himself from an explosion? Have you ever seen a soldier smack another soldier away with a giant hammer?

Halo is NOT, NOT, NOT a gritty realistic game. It's a brightly colorful FPS that lets you alter degrees of gravity and swing giant hammers at each other. With alien enemies that make silly lines in response to you and gameplay that is incredibly dedicated to relentless action against hordes of enemies with lots of different weapons and in later games crazy equipment and armor abilities.
If people supposedly love the crazy action of the old days of gaming, Halo should feel right at home.

Duke Nukem 3D is on consoles. That seems to work just fine. Not to mention all the other games that let you carry multiple weapons.

This excuse is a load of bullshit.

Half Life on the orange box didnt have only two weapons, TF2 didn't have two weapons only. They were just being lazy, and thats why duke nukem will fail in my opinion, laziness. Thats an duke wasn't that great to begin with.

Probably 3D Realms back into the late 90-ies invented time machine, looked into the future and saw today's games and had an orgasm so long, that they were ready to start DNF development only in 2008

I apologize for not clarifying, I'm not saying that gritty realism shooters sprang into life overnight, I'm saying Halo laid the groundwork with things like weapon restrictions. Admittedly regenerating health isn't really a "realistic" feature but for some reason almost all the newer gritty shooters use it as an excuse to give people extremely limited health and force them into cover shooting, so I suppose it's a stepping stone in their evolutionary path.

Fair enough if you actually liked Halo's multiplayer, but personally I found it cumbersome and slow compared to good old LAN party staples like Unreal Tournament.

Yeah! You know those console gamers who say they're having fun?

They're lying! It' all a big conspiracy, man! We're losing out on the enlightened intellectual age of games like Duke Nukem because of these people.

I'm a console gamer and even I feel let down. 2 weapons??? WTF the are loads of console games with more than two weapons and the mighty boot replacement...I'm at a loss for words.

They marketed the game as unique and it became just as bland and average as everything else.
