Lately, I've been looking for a good ARPG for the PC.
Many of my friends have suggested Diablo 2, but since it's kinda old I was wondering if there were any other options that might be better.
One other game I looked at was Sacred and Sacred 2. I just don't know if it's good or not.
Help?

Titan's Quest or whatever was supposed to be good but i myself never played it.
Diablo 2 is still an entertaining as it always was if you don't mind sprites.

Titan Quest + the expansion, Immortal Throne goes for around $19 on Direct2Drive, and you will certainly get hours and hours of fun out of it.

And did I mention how beautiful the game is? :)

Titan Quest is really good. It is kinda railroady, but fun as heck and gameplay issues are really small. I usually don't like A-RPGs, but Titan Quest and it's expansion have taken over 100h in 4 walkthroughs of my time...

Diablo 2 all the way. Seriously, this is the most fun you'll probably get out of an ARPG, and even playing it on normal difficulty you get many oh shi moments, the gameplay is well balanced all along, the amount of items you can find, craft and pull out of god's ass is absolutely staggering only in the first level of the game, and there hasn't been such an epic story in a game for ages. Seriously, killing satan has never ever been more satisfying. And the atmosphere of the game is deliciously well made, when you walk into dark caves were you can only see a few inches into the dark and don't know how many enemies you might be facing, now that's immersion.

Sprites are fine.

What do you mean by railroady?

I mean that most of the time there is only one path to take to move forward. Literally. There are some side areas but they are all ultimately dead-ends. Mind you, some side areas are large and interesting, but you can't help but feel you are driving a train with the only options being what engine you want on it, how much bling is placed on the tracks and if you want to make a quickstop at Sidequest station. Nitpicking yes, hardly gamebreaking (I did play it from end to beginning to end again over 4 times!) but I feel it needed to be said.

Oh, okay.
I'm just kinda tired right now.
But yeah, that doesn't really sound like a problem.
Thanks for the help.

Diablo 2 is the shit! Plus pretty cheap if you can pick it up used. Definitely worth a look over.

I would suggest Neverwinter Nights, along with the expansion Hordes of the Underdark. It's pretty old, but the graphics shouldn't be too much of a turnoff. If they are, try Neverwinter Nights 2, and the expansion Mask of the Betrayer. I had loads of fun on those too.

So you won't play Diablo 2 because of it's age?

You're just a graphics whore aint ya?
No.
Not at all.
I was just wondering if any other games had come out and improved on the gameplay of Diablo.

ARPG's hit their peak with Diablo 2 and stayed there.

Everything else since Diablo 2 is a Diablo 2 clone. Even Diablo 3 will be a Diablo 2 clone.

That's impossible.

Vista keeps giving me grief over NWN being out of date and uncompatable, but I would heartily agree on NWN2. Some people might not be in to how... I don't know what word I'm looking for here... Not complex, but definitely not solo-character friendly NWN2 is. If you don't mind controlling a party of charactes and enjoy a long, deep storyline, NWN2 is amazingly fun. If you're more of the pick-up and play Hack-and-slasher type, Diablo 2.

Me not being a graphics whore or any ARPG being better than Diablo?
If it's the first, I will smack you upside the head with my NES games.

That could go both ways, I only have 2 NES games.
