Dick Move? Yes. But you can't call it a Dick Move if us intelligent smart people approve of it.

That would be my hell

From what I gather from this story, it sounds like the students were the dicks. They walked by a car, started looking inside it for no good reason, saw something they didn't like, and then wanted to act on something that had nothing to do with them or their school since this person was merely a visitor. I would say the first act of dickery falls on the students, not you. Being a third party to this event, unless your friend was unwilling to retaliate, then I'd say to a degree you had a right to react.
Since this sounds like a pretty rigid place, and a university setting, I would have thought there would be some sort of campus security. If they (the students) were creating a scene, it would have been far better to call security to stop them from surrounding his car and potentially causing damage. I'm not sure trying to torture them was the right thing to do, but you're entitled to do what you want as long as you didn't actually physically hurt anyone. Unless they are Amish, you'd think they would be more open-minded about other peoples' interest and lifestyles. Damn religious freaks anyway.

I think the school the OP is referring to is Bob Jones University.

I can't be sure though as I'm not familiar with too many religious universities in the Bible Belt.
I like how the name of this "university" seems deliberately tailored to be as bland as possible.

OT: A dick move it may be Mr. OP, but a hilarious one nonetheless.

From what I hear the Amish are fine as long as they are allowed to keep their own way of life.

Incredibly Dickish. Understandably so, but that's not gonna be helping build understanding anytime soon. But I bet that lack of understanding between both parties is also what was utterly frustrating to you and encouraged you to do this.

God damn group social dynamics.

You typed it for me.
Yep I thought that we had mostly moved past this. I didnt think there were still schools like this, mostly because i wouldnt think it would pass the teaching requirements of a school.

And yes its dickish, and i would GLADLY join you
This isn't a public school this person is describing people. It's a private religious university. You lot can respect that these forums are privately owned therefor they can make their own rules to an extent, but try to apply that to a religious organization and it all falls apart?

I took a few classes at Bringham Young University in Utah. That is about as religious as you can get and it still wasn't that bad. Something tells me this OP is exaggerating things a bit.
Strict rules I believe, but the rest sounds a bit off.

Your post was somewhat decent until you allowed your intolerance to poke it's ugly head out. That's the same thing you where chastising the students for there sparky.

I hate Religion. I don't necessarily hate all religious people but some of them are just fucking obnoxious. A lot of them I just feel bad for. They're so misguided and they're just told "The world is just like this because the Bible says so" over and over again since birth and they just accept it despite the fact that a lot of the Bible is PROVABLY wrong.

We can point at things in the Bible like the age of the Earth and say without even the slightest bit of question that its completely wrong. Evolution is technically a theory but come on. Micro-evolution is fact. We've seen that. Macro-evolution is also, I'm sure, true but its still a theory since people debate over the specifics. But these people are just told "Nope God made everything and that's the way everything will stay" and they accept it and its frustrating.

If there was anywhere like that around my hometown, I would've done the same. Congratulations, my scheming friend.

Dick move? Certainly. Bad move? I do not think so. People who narrow their vision to the point of obsession lose sight of what is truely good. I doubt the good lord wants everyone to be obsessive over EVERY pice of religious doctrine.

That was pretty sweet. I never could understand why someone would react to anything like that, especially music.

I guess they never steeled themselves for heavy metal.

Yea that is a private school so none of us here can hate on it. If you don't agree, don't be there. That simple. But that was dick of you, it's not like they were beating him up. It WAS prententious, but they were praying for his everlasting soul, which is a pretty nice gesture I think.

Do I share the views of the people at that school? I most certainly do not.

Do I think that living in that sort of bubble is a good lifestyle? I most certainly do not.

But these people chose that for themselves. It's not hurting anybody. Who the hell am I, and who the hell are you to tell them that they can't live that way?

I'd have to say that it is dickish BUT i find it hysterical and totally approve. I'm with you though. It's not that I hate religious people. I feel the same way about them as I do with fangirls/boys. It's just the real crazy stupid ones I hate with a burning passion.
