Sure it's easy to bash ol' dubyuh, but is there anything he did that you think is a positive?

Oh, I admire him. Truly. No other man could possibly have done such a fine job to ensure that Obama got elected in the last election. It was a superb performance.

Did bush really do anything wrong?

Sure, plenty of people are against him on policy, but I can't think of that many things he objectivly did wrong.

And it isn't like this is a monarchy, the president has way less power than people tend to think.

Bush didn't, but Cheney shot a guy in the face.

I live in europe, and we've only read the stories about his screw-ups, so I wouldn't really know

Aid for Africa. That was nice of him.
As opposed to national health care for us?

I apologize, I'm bitter about that sort of thing. As for what Bush did right, he did provide a strong boon to the oil industry, and Israel must love him for Iraq.

Well... there is always Iraq and, to a lesser extent, No Child Left Behind.

Also the really important question is: did he do anything that helped significantly?

Another placeholder president.

Yes I know. I'm bitter too, for the exact same reasons I expect.

fucked up on Katrina, invaded Iraq(the country that had nothing to do with 9/11), expanded the power of the executive branch, politicized the judicial branch, allowed his vice president to operate a shadow government, ect.

On the plus side he was the number one president for African aid.

I remember him doing a few things I approved of. I'm trying to remember what they were, but I know they existed.

Iraq. That went way, way, way beyond policy differences into the realm of gargantuan screw-ups. Hell, the whole "war on terror" thing in general failed badly...partly due to Iraq.

For something in which he shares the blame with Congress: Many Children Left Behind.

This is true, he did do quite a lot to step up African aid. I know its easy to bash on the guy because he was just so dim. It was just the poeople he surrounded himself with that used him for their own ends and he wasnt wise enough to say no or didnt care.
I have mixed feelings on that one. He also refused to endorse teaching anything but abstinence as AIDs prevention. I'd rather people used a condom than nothing at all. Even if you're pro-abstinence, the notion that you're going to get an entire population to do it is a little ridiculous. If he wanted to stop people from dying of AIDs, he could've supported both approaches.

Oh man, this is gonna be bad.

Anyway, I think his reaction to when the guy threw a shoe at him was perfect.

He shrugged his shoulders a little bit and put his arms out like "Whaddya gonna do about it?"

And later on he was like "So what if a guy threw a shoe at me...?"

Well, I was trying to be positive.
