I didn't go. I didn't want to waste that much money.
yeah i had my date pay for my ticket and with the money i had that i was going to use on the ticket and i got a piercing
money well spent!

on topic: i did go and the actual prom sucked but the after party was awesome all you need is to get a hotel room and lots of booze and a ice bucket handy
getting piss drunk and doing other things is so much better

I'm a Freshman, and I'm going to prom with my date who is a Junior.
Ah, the benefits of dating women who actually possess a sense of maturity are boundless.

With year 11 coming to a close for me and everybody starting to talk about the end of year prom, i had to wonder. Who did go to their high school prom?.
I decided not to because, well why would I want to spend time with people I ether never talked to or were massive tossers when I could spend time with people I would go so far as to call freinds. Thats how Im spending my prom night, a grand get-together of 8-10 freinds to play games into the night.
How about you?
Yeah I had the same feeling as you about Prom. In my high school prom was a joke, the dance floor was half the size of my house and there was more than 200 hundred people who attended. And it costed 80 dollars for each person, which was a huge rip off.

That is exactly how I spent my prom. No regrets and I saved enough money to buy some good games.

I did, and it was awesome. I heard a story form someone about people arriving at another prom in various modes of transport, a fire engine, a JCB digger, all sorts of wacky stuff.

My friends and I popped our heads together, and thought, what could we do? Our answer?

It's helicopter time! Hell yeah baby.

Add a little alcohol, some funky music and the fact everyone was basically clubbing in evening wear (one girl was actually wearing a meringue... wrong occasion! Whoops!) and I had a great time.

I actually had the pleasure of being a year where everyone grew up the previous term (bar one, who wasn't allowed to go), so the old social hierarchy went out the window. Everyone had a laugh, and it was a night I'll remember fondly to the day I die.

My school just had it's prom, but I didn't go (mainly because I'm not a senior yet, so what evs)

Personally, I guess I would go to my prom if I felt like it, date or no. As someone else said, you only have so much time in High School so you might as well experience everything you can from it.

And hey, I'll be the first to break the ice on the dance floor! LET'S BOOGEY!

I enjoyed prom, but then again I really enjoyed pretty dresses, and that was about the most exciting thing that I got to do. My suggestion - get all dressed up and go out somewhere normal where being dressed formally would be odd - the looks are fun and you feel like a celebrity. :p

My school didn't have a prom because it's an American tradition and I'm from England. It actually annoys me how people think we have to have everything America has.

We are not them!

My school only had Year 13 Proms.
I stayed up until October of Year 13. Found much better courses in Colleges, went into work etc.

Then again even if I would have stayed on for the full year I probably wouldn't have gone to the prom. All my friends went elsewhere so I would imagine I wouldn't have enjoyed the night.

Man, Schools in England have Proms for Year 11 and 13. I know because my friend moved to England (from Wales), we kept in touch and he mentioned he was going to some proms.

I'm from Sweden we only have 1 prom during our whole schooling (at least in my school)and that is when we quit high school. Well we had a "prom" when we got out of junior high. I went and it was worth every penny.

I have my debs at the end of August (it's the Irish equivalent of the prom) and I do plan on going, but I would so much rather do what you are doing (wouldn't be able to though. No gaming friends). It will be shit. I'm probably going to be one of the few not drink too (less than 20 in the year is optimistic), which wont be too pleasant. Sigh, I'm jealous of you.

Nope. Thought it was a waste of money. I did go to the after-prom my high-school had and that was a blast.

I definitely went, but I went to a military school and it wasn't so much a promenade as a ball. The guys all looked forward to the day they could escort a beautiful young woman into the ball, he in his dress uniform, and she in a gown. It was great, especially for the seniors who got to go through the sword ceremony.

I went to prom my junior and senior years - this was because I went to a small town school and the people that I hung out with went to prom that night as well. Also, if you went to prom, you got to bowl for three hours for free afterward. It was well worth it. Plus, I got my dresses for $5 on eBay and my mom altered them. You would have never known they were on eBay. :D

nahh if you ask me, proms just draw attention to the sad losers without girlfriends, a point which i hardly failed to illustrate by not going T~T
