I didn't go to prom in 11th grade nor will I go this year. Some reasons are that it's 20 bucks per ticket. Screw that. Another is that if I wanted to see people grinding on each other for 5 hours, I can just watch rap videos.

Went last year, going again this year. Because I look badass in a tux. I enjoyed it, but I definitely wouldn't go if my group of friends wasn't going.

I went, because I liked a majority of my graduating class. Prom was fun, then I went to a small friend's afterparty and it sucked, should of gone to the big one.

I went. It was actually quite a fun night. The after party was the best part though.

Certainly not planning to. just seems like a waste of £20 to me, and I could get at least 3 decent games with that money.

Nah, Prom was a huge waste of time and money. I don't drink or do drugs, so at my school there wasn't much else to do.

My girlfriend on the other hand, went twice. She ended up in an Ambulance both times. The first time, she suffered food poisoning. The second time, she rode with a friend who had an allergic reaction.

I went to prom. However, I was in a very small school, with about 50 students in a year, so even though we didn't all get along, it was a small, tightly knit community. Also, he didn't have any other forms of formal dances (like homecoming), so it was a pretty big deal. All in all, it wasn't the torture I thought it'd be (I wasn't exactly the popular, social type). I actually had fun, got to wear a pretty dress and get my hair done (which is fun, once in a while, I guess). Didn't go to the after prom, didn't get wasted, though.
In conclusion: go if you want to go, don't go if you don't want to go. Prom has no reason to be a rigid rite of passage everyone says it is.

I didn't have anyone to go with, and the whole point of prom is to dance, which I don't like doing. I ended up doing pretty much nothing, and I actually forgot it was prom night until people were talking about it on monday at school.

No, I didn't have the money and none of my friends were going so really would have been pointless. Well thats being a nerd for you.

Dude, I respect that. I didn't go to my graduation for precisely the same reason. Moreover, it begs the question of why on Earth to have a graduation dinner and subsequent night out to get drunk not only before the end of school, not only before the exams, but also before actually getting the grades.

College education can be so full of hypocrisy, it's unbelievable.

I decided not to because, well why would I want to spend time with people I ether never talked to or were massive tossers when I could spend time with people I would go so far as to call freinds. Thats how Im spending my prom night, a grand get-together of 8-10 freinds to play games into the night.
How about you?
I was one of those weird "cool nerds". I was friends with or at least got along with people in pretty much every social group at my school, so I went to the prom with some of my friends while others were having a LAN party in someone's basement. The LAN party kept going all weekend, though, so the next morning after the prom and (small) party afterward, I headed over to the LAN party when some people who'd fallen asleep early the previous night were just getting up (and some people who'd stayed up all night were taking their turn to nap on the couches).

So, I did both. And stayed up for about 72 hours straight, because I'm good like that. Or, I should say, was good like that. I so can't pull that off anymore, now that I'm old. Also, get off my lawn, you darn kids!

I never went to my Year 11 one (considering going to the Year 13 one, because I can get pissed), and I refuse to fucking call it a prom - what a horrible name. "Ball" sounds much better, even if it is full of unrefined youths. Prom is too Valley Girl for my liking. I hated most of the people in Year 11 and thought there'd be no point in standing around them whilst sober.

I spent the night making a shoddy, albeit hilarious, song with my friend. No regrets whatsoever.

I never went to any school dances. Nor did I go to my graduation. Yay social anxiety. I'm now 21 and have never known the touch of a woman.

I probably won't be going to mine because i'll have to spend a lot of money on usless things, the music will be shit, most of the people will be shit and they won't let me drive a tank,so i'd rather get some of my friends and have a great time somewhere else.

Too expensive, no one I asked said yes. So I just hung out with my friends and fucked around town all day before crashing on my friend's couch at 7 am the next day.

I didn't go my Junior year, but I went this year, since I'm a Senior so I figured I should go at least once.
I actually really enjoyed it. :) Makes me wish I would've gone last year too. I just went with my friends and we had a good time (minus one who was being a ***** because she was dateless).

I did, for only two reasons. The first was that it was a masquerade, and I love costumes. The second was the someone asked me and I would have felt bad saying no. That said, it was not very much fun (I don't like dances). My recommendation: unless you really want to go, get a bunch of friends together and go camping instead.
