Turkey did not send orders, even with extravagantly kind deadlines.
Resolutions:
I need retreat orders from Germany re Denmark, and Turkey re Ankara. These should be gotten into my by Sunday 10 AM at the very latest (there's not much thought involved in these ones: it's retreat to the one available territory or disband the unit).
Important Edit:The resolution of Italy's moves have somehow gone haywire. I'm desperately needed away from the computer, so for anyone who wants to know where Italian units really are, please look at the orders map and extrapolate. I'll fix it tomorrow.
So here we are with the resolved retreats. But first, as promised (but later than promised) the real, true, official, authorised resolution of the Fall 02 moves:
The retreats are as shown:
Resulting in these final positions:
Which means the following people have builds:
England: 2
Germany: -1 (you have 4 territories but 5 units, so must choose one unit to disband)
Russia: 1
Everyone else has parity between their territories and units, hence no builds or disbandments. If you three could get to me ASAP it'd be much appreciated.
An important note: shotbyamonk has not sent me orders for the last week. I've chased him up and I'm sure he's read my messages so it looks like he's given up. Since it's a bit not-nice to put a new player into a probably doomed position, the Turkish units will now mutually support each other until dislodged or disbanded. You can all respond appropriately.
(Waits for the mad dash for the last Turkish territories.)
Well, well, well. This has been the best the most action-packed Diplomacy turn I've ever seen. Attacks and counter-attacks are flying around the board, and whiffs of dealings and double-dealings are everywhere. And sometimes things were just bizarre. It's one of those turns that excites the inner commentator in me - but commentary might give players ideas.
This is what Diplomacy is all about.

And this is the board as it stands at Adjustment Phase 1903:
I for one am a little sad at the slow death of multi-colour on the board. There's some consolation in the gradual spread of nice, wide brush-strokes I suppose. Aesthetics are all.
Adjustments are as follows:
England: -1
Italy: 3(!)
Russia: 1
And Turkey is now officially out of the game. Adjustments are due by Friday 10PM.
Probably. But never say never! Maybe you can talk your way out of this. Or maybe circumstances will present you with an opportunity. Or Zemalac could die of a heart attack.
I've heard that a player has managed to come back for a win after having only one territory. Mind you, it wouldn't be notable or spectacular if it weren't rare, but still.
"Best engineered forum game" has me baffled. Are you saying that you're impressed by this game I've brewed up? In which case, you're mistaken (understandable mistake): Diplomacy [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diplomacy_(game)] is a board game designed in 1954(!) when the internet wasn't even the twinkle in the eye of an army general.
If you mean something else, would you mind explaining.
PS: I wish I'd designed Diplomacy. Then I'd be awesome.

Ha! I can't even take credit for that. Zemalac ran the first and I basically cribbed from his notes (hence the "Part Deux"). But thanks nonetheless. The best part about Diplomacy is that in a board full of RPs run on unspoken agreements of how to 'play', this game runs itself.
(No 'fence to the RPs around here.)

So I need a retreat order from dekkarax in the next couple of days. It seems people have been committing the sin of having lives this round. While I would have appreciated being forewarned I've now taken this into consideration - deadlines will be loosened. Also, if you foresee some urgent business in your life please warn me so I don't wonder whether you've had a coronary or something.
Game Note: I will no longer be fixing any of your mistakes. I realised I was correcting according to my own sense of honour. I've come to see that my sense of honour is quite sluttish and sells herself according to whim and a very arcane system of logic. This mistake should be corrected because it's clear he just forgot; that mistake shouldn't because he should know better; that one also shouldn't be because the names of this or that province are right there on the board (and the rules).
Plus it can slow the game down tremendously.
And so, you'll all have to take better care of your orders - and not send an angry mob to my house when it's your own damn fault. My own way of ensuring this in Zem's game was to double-check my notation (territories, army/fleet, order type) against the rules and the map. If you're unsure how to perform a convoy maneuver, look it up. If you're not certain how a certain territory works, check the rules (linked on the first page). I'll still make allowances for each of your (ahem) idiosyncracies in notation, but when there's a typo or something was forgotten I'll assume that's a feature not a bug.
All in all, this system should work better. Now you guys are all equally on your toes rather than at my mercy.
Orders are in. Things are looking mighty gloomy for half of you and mighty fine for the other half. If this turn looks visually confusing that's because it is.

Sadly, I believe BoVinE is away by now, so we'll have a bit of a wait there. If you want, you can ignore his retreats and send me your Adjustments. I wouldn't recommend that for a couple of you, since his retreat may affect your plans.
