This is something that has perplexed me as well as almost all the girls I know when quizzed have told me that they wouldn't date a red-head (I myself have dark brown hair) and when pushed even further said it was because "they just didn't find them attractive". It seems the world (or at least the female population) has turned against red-heads for no real explicable reason. My recently ex-girlfriend saw a photo of a girl I went out with when I was 18 who was a red-head and she was like "ewww, you went out with a ginger?". I haven't noticed guys being as discriminatory with red-headed girls; in fact one of my good friends is incredibly attracted to them.
Around here, I think red heads are extremely wanted- and no, I'm not just saying that. But it depends on the guy. If you get a guy who wants a relationship and not just sex, he'll go for a brunette. If he just wants a good round in bed, he'll look for the redhead. If he just wants to pound his junk into something for two minutes, he'll look for the blond. I realize I sound blunt, but most girls I know don't like redheads because they're jealous. Redheads (females ones anyways) have always been stereotyped as outgoing, slightly crazy, and more than a little easy- even classic art supports the theory (Take "The Lady Shallot", and "Ophelia", both by Waterhouse, as an example). Girls get jealous on both conscious and subconscious levels, but if questioned as to why they don't like a certain type of people, they'll usually be able to drudge up an answer before realizing how silly it is.
Girls usually treat me pretty badly and I have mostly guy friends as a result, but only one of those male friends can safely say that he didn't come around at first because he wanted to "get with me". All of my guy friends have originally come into my life because I'm decent-looking and nerdy, lol. They've all had a sexual attraction to me at some point. So it's safe for me to say that men like me a lot more than women do, and every single one of my friends will tell you it's because they're jealous.
Maybe it's like that with guys too, lmao. Red hair usually signals Irish ancestry, and we Irish can hold our booze better than those dumbass college jocks any day :-D So maybe the guy who hit you in the face is really just jealous, lol.
