The princess and the frog? Am I mistaken in thinking this movie takes place in louisiana? Where people eat frogs?

Also, Is the villian a coonass like he appears to be?

To the few people who asked why that beginning movie is racist, the crow's name is "JIM CROW" if you don't know what that is then google it. Also they talk with a stereotypical uneducated southern accent "But i be done seen 'bout everythang"

I haven't seen the movie, so I don't know. What I will say is that if she is black simply for the fact that they didn't want people protesting and losing business, it is wrong. If it is a part of the story, of her character than yes, it is a good thing.

Oh my God, this new Disney Princess has skin that has a different pigment than everyone other Disney Princess.

Bleh, I think we can get rid of racism comments once we get rid of stupid people who make small molehills like this mountains.

It wasn't racist when it was new though, it was just funny.

Hell, I remember a buddies great grandfather laughing his ass off about the crows when his g.granddaughter was watching dumbo because he knew someone that acted and talked just like that.

Oh for god's sake...does it matter at all? Really? Black, white, purple, lizard people, a princess is a princess isn't it? I'm more upset that disney has put the image of an aristocratic daughter to royalty on it's pedistals for girls then a way more realistic image. Yes, our little girls should aspire to be materialistic, spoiled little bitches rather then working women or women of intelligence or acomplishment.

I had to weasel my way out of a conversation about this movie that a bunch of people were bitching at eachother over.

"I wouldn't call her black, but rather white with a dark tan, like Disney was too afraid it would turn off their white supremicist fans." It would be like "oh, you can't give her curly hair, that would be stereotyping" followed by "so black women aren't allowed to have curly hair?" & this one guy was like "she's not black, she has a flat chest & a pancake ass" & then all hell broke loose.

I remeber people saying Disney was being racist for making a black princess, anyone see the irony? People who claim to see racism in everything are themselves racists who are just looking for an excuse to get angry over nothing.

Thanks a lot. I never notice these types of things then someone points it out to me then I'll notice it every single time. It happened with RE5 and it happened with L4D2 now it'll happen with this.

To be honest this one is a example which people point at and tell me that it is, racist. Which I honestly never really got because if you say that this clearly portrays a black stereotype then surely you are in fact saying. When I see black people this is what I think of and thus really the problem is your a racist, not the cartoon with funny talking birds.
I think you're making something of a leap there. Being aware of racial stereotypes and being able to recognise them in media doesn't mean that that is how you view people of colour. The fact that I know that Mickey Rooney's portrayal of Mr. Yunoishi in Breakfast at Tiffany's [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Breakfast_at_Tiffany's_(film)#Criticism] was based on long-standing - and baseless - stereotypes dating back to the 19th century does not mean that I automatically assume that every east asian I meet is going to be bucktoothed and wear thick glasses.

As for why that particular video is in amazingly bad taste, ask Jim Crow [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_crow].

My opinion is that Disney is a fucking pirate, and that their mascot was ripped off from a Buster Keaton routine, back when groups weren't as copyright insane as they are today. Disney hasn't done anything good in years and years and arguably, they've yet to come up with a single original idea, even if they revolutionized animation. Naturally, this is what makes it so bloody amusing when they lobby to have the copyright extended on their work, even though the extensions granted are already obscene.

Also, Celebration is a Goddamn creepy fucking concept, and I really have no understanding of why anyone would want to live there.

I have nothing to say about the significance of the film specifically, but it does bother me that Disney manages to make stupefying amounts of coin by rehashing other people's work, and then immediately turning around and cutting everyone else off, especially considering that they are the largest media conglomerate on the face of this planet.

Look, its not like they only did white princesses before. This is their first black princess, sure. But its not their first of a non-white ethnicity.

Ex: Pocahontas

its not like they havent already had every other ethnicity be the princess. seeing as how there are like 3 native americans left and a huge minority of america is black they would have made this waaaay before that pochahontus stuff

yeah it's a waaaaay bigger deal that disney's actually drawing movies rather than using computers.
this is true, the only stuff they made that's standing the test of time is their handrawn stuff.
