The reason for me being skeptical to the game is not because of simple change. It's true that I don't like the new design, and half angel thing, and especially the picture with new Dante trying to look cool. That was the point where I stopped following the progress.

However, the thing I dislike the most is the whole setting, and story about the government being evil and everyone being observed all the time. Could be a good thing, but it seems kind of lame when the main character is a "rebel" and supposedly really cool. Also, the argument about it being the game where we see how Dante turns into who he is in the other games? Considering the Dante in this game is about the same age as the Dante in Devil May Cry 3, that won't be possible. I might be mistaken, but damn, then this Dante needs some food and some sleep.

It looks like it will be fun to play, but story is a very big factor when I play a game, and I fear my worries about this game are too true for it to be a good experience. I don't hate it, yet, but I hate what I have seen so far (on the story aspect, and experience.) It would probably have been received better if they had voted against calling him Dante, and instead made an entirely new character. But yeah, it's change, but also the fact that very little of the whole story and the way it supposedly is tied to the other games makes sense, and that the new Dante isn't a likable character to me, even if he had been someone else.

I don't comment often, but this topic kinda got to me.

Maybe, I'm not saying it's a lost cause and will definitely be shit, just that it's looking like it will be.

Frankly, I had no problem with anything until they said that, because that destroys every chance of it fitting into canon continuity. I could take his hair having been black once and him looking like an awkward douchebag. Even half demons can have that awkward teenage phase, I told myself.

But then... half angel. -sighs-
Wait what....o_O but huh...Dante was Half Human Half Demon how can he be half Demon half angel half human? That's three halves. Wait....so he's...not human at all? ....Yeah I like this game even less now. Oh well that's 60 bucks that will save me. Maybe I should spend that on Darksiders 2....Hmmm..

What the hell are you talking about you ************(s)!

OT:

Erm... I'm looking forward to it. A more punky and dickish Dante doesn't bother me. He's at least relatable now, not distantly amusing. The combat's what will make or break the game though, aaaaand until I get to play the game I won't be able to judge. I think "fans" (read: anybody) try to dedicate waaaaaaayhayhay too much time to shitting themselves over, well, nothing.

I think it's like mental diarrhea, essentially.

DON'T JUDGE OUT OF CONTEXT! WE'RE NOT IN WHITE HAIR TOWN ANYMORE!

Also, yes, yes you should. Darksiders 2 is looking sexy.

Just to confirm everyone else's opinion, the only thing I don't like is Dante's new look. The original came of as an apathetic badass, and the new one comes off as an twilight ripoff. First the Amazing Spider Man, now apparently Dante must suffer the curse.

Just to quote a section of that wall of text post I made earlier:

Stinger : Double tap foward on the joy stick and press Δ/Y. Mashing the button will follow-up a Million Stab but now called "Trillion Stab" and a final short-stinger. Cancel is possible after initial Stinger and Trillion Stab.

Ok it's got a stinger and even better, it still leads into million stab. Now I'm just wondering how long the developer was drinking paint before the epiphany that everyone loves trying to make an analogue stick do double taps struck.

Your first post stated nothing of "position of authority." You only started using that train of thought in our argument. Your initial argument against him was rejecting his personal taste. Which was the argument I was responding too. If you had a different opinion, you didn't state it until later.

Draech said:
I read DMC as Batman and Ninja Theory as Christopher Nolan.

And then your entire argument just sounded like fanboy whining.
I still don't feel he attempted to post from authority. Which is part of my argument.
I still don't feel argument from authority is always a fallacy, which is the other part.

Either way, I've had my fun, and we've gone pretty far off topic.

y'know, I actually kinda like the whole Orwellian nightmare theme with the government being demons and some underground organisation trying to rid the world of that evil (you'd think this was made by Tea Party Members). But for the love of god, could somebody bitchslap that Dante. His mannerisms rub me exactly the wrong way. He sounds like a complete twat ready to shout YOLO at every fucking platforming section. A white boy trying to go thug/punk and it's unbearable.

and really... a demon that's 1200 years old and has the same witty comebacks as a 12-year-old? yeeesh, did you spend half that eternity watching Jersey Shore?

Then again, being such a prick at the beginning of the game might mean that he's going through some deep character arc and he will have some growing up to do...
...
What? It COULD be. I'm all for innocent until proven guilty (or in this case, decent until proven shitty)

PS: WTF is up with these stupid captcha questions? and chocomocolopoco is totally a real word >:C

Allow me to summarize the issue with DmC in one sentence:

It looks like a good action game, it doesn't look like a good Devil May Cry game.

Why should I bother?

How long's it been? Nearly two years? And those of us who don't like this thing still aren't being listened to, mostly.

Nearly two years and we're still getting the ur jst a chanj hating fanboi lol or lol its just a harcutt lol.

Fuck it. I'm not going to bother. Most of us have damn good reasons to dislike the shit out of this and few have bothered to listen.

Just fuck it.

This. Million times this.
People were trying to compare it to rebooting stuff like Batman. Making Dante half-angel is like making Batman molest children.
Dante is not half angel.
Batman is not a child molester.
You can play with characters in quite a wide variety of way, but if you just disregard core established facts you're not making a game in series, not rebooting, you're raping the series.
Every series has this base stuff. In W40K The Emperor of Man is half-dead, sustained by golden throne. Batman is Bruce Wayne, a rich man fighting crime in bat suit. Kratos is a son of Zeus. Helghasts live on Helghan. Dante is half-demon, son of Sparda and a mortal woman.

You really couldn't search bar this? Fine then while the story was never DMC thing as a draw fans liked it to a degree and the half angel messes with that a lot. More importantly however there is plenty of reason to hate the 30fps cap they are introducing.

Yeah.... he is still half-demon.... son of Sparda.... did you see the video?

He is just half demon half angel in this interpretation. His supposed to be the son of Sparda (demon) and Eva (angel). Unless they rewrote the lore Sparda is still a demon. Is there some piece of info I havn't gotten?
Nope.

Sparda is still a demon.

Eva is still his mother.

Mundus is still the King of Hell or whatever.

That makes me a happy bunny. Seriously, as soon as I learned that Mundus was back I was willing to overlook a lot of the things that were annoying me.

FUCK YOU = quality NT writing.

There are a ton of reasons why I don't like it. The new Donte is one, there's no wisecracking stylish demon hunter. He's just a jerk that needs to wash his cloths and take a bath. Not to mention the whole 'government is run by demons and is out to get you' is bad enough but making him half angel half demon half human raised in a orphanage run by demons is straight out of a teenage girl's fanfic.

I can't say I played but even looking at the combat it doesn't look nearly as deep as before, and the fact you can't even lock on really disappoints me. How are you suppose to fight when you can't even pick who you're attack or aim your guns? Also an action game running at 30 fps [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9cbMIKiGjy8&list=FLTGjmWGR2ok3LLdC6A-PVNw&index=4&feature=plpp_video] had to be a joke.

I probably left out a few things, but that's my 30 second rant for now. Oh and disclaimer: I'm not saying it's a bad game, just a bad DMC.

Imo with how the industry is atm, DMC fans are getting off very lightly with this remake. At least they are getting a new game, atleast its the same genre and not a fricking shooter.

While the jury is still out about the gameplay, if it turns out to be just a good game I think fans should count their blessings.

IF DMC is a great game, DMC fans should all change their hairstyles to new Dante as recompense for the crap they've put NT though.

Hehe It's (almost) a shame I dont cosplay, I can think of nothing more trollish than turning up to a gaming covention dressed as new Dante

As a game I don't have a problem with DMC. As a part of the Devil May Cry franchise... well let's say I don't consider it part of the Devil May Cry franchise or cannon anymore. You know, for sanities sake.

The game may be great, the game may suck, but it's not a Devil May Cry game regardless.

Because more than anything it represents change.

And if there is anything a fanboy hates it is to be shown that what he dedicated his his passion towards can be changed and that his love dedication was largely ignored.
Well, we weren't as hostile to the "Nero" change. What bugs (at least me) mostly about the new "Dante" is that it's a complete opposite of the character we came to know and love. It's like if they took Mario and made him slow and unable to jump. (So Hotel Mario basically.)

I'd be willing to bet that if the new DmC games character had a name that WASN'T Dante. The fanboy backlash wouldn't be near this bad.

Just my thoughts though. Less about change being change, and more about change being destruction. For another good example of this... Metroid Other M.

EDIT: Also the fans seem to find it hard to grasp that this dante ISN'T the dante we know and love.
As quoted by the creator of the original Dante when asked about smoking. "Dante is too cool to smoke." yet this new edward cullen wannabe DOES smoke.

And as quoted from UMvC3 "What? My hair? It's always been white like this." and obviously that kids hair isn't white.

Personally, I find it funny that even the DMC staff is trying to say "This isn't a DMC game".
