The reason for me being skeptical to the game is not because of simple change. It's true that I don't like the new design, and half angel thing, and especially the picture with new Dante trying to look cool. That was the point where I stopped following the progress.
However, the thing I dislike the most is the whole setting, and story about the government being evil and everyone being observed all the time. Could be a good thing, but it seems kind of lame when the main character is a "rebel" and supposedly really cool. Also, the argument about it being the game where we see how Dante turns into who he is in the other games? Considering the Dante in this game is about the same age as the Dante in Devil May Cry 3, that won't be possible. I might be mistaken, but damn, then this Dante needs some food and some sleep.
It looks like it will be fun to play, but story is a very big factor when I play a game, and I fear my worries about this game are too true for it to be a good experience. I don't hate it, yet, but I hate what I have seen so far (on the story aspect, and experience.) It would probably have been received better if they had voted against calling him Dante, and instead made an entirely new character. But yeah, it's change, but also the fact that very little of the whole story and the way it supposedly is tied to the other games makes sense, and that the new Dante isn't a likable character to me, even if he had been someone else.
I don't comment often, but this topic kinda got to me.
