Do avatars affect you?

I usually do not judge people based on their avatar. But if someone has an avatar of something I hate (MGS, FF, Emo-punk bands etc) then I will most likely scrutinize their posts more. I think that is normal, or I hope it is anyway
Names are the same, but I first and foremost read the post. Then comes the avatar, then comes the name.
Not sure what my avatar tells people. Would be fun to know. (I barely post here, so I doubt anyone know me. So it is hard to judge me by my posts I guess)

I recognize people primarily by their avatars, and recognition affects the way I read their posts. So yes, I would say avatars affect me.

Exactly. It would be weird to see a person without a face, and if there were several faceless persons walking around, it would be hard to tell them apart. It´s convenient to have a face, even in the internet.

It allows me to know people better. Besides, mine seems to fit me as a glove.

Unfortunately I do. But I pray I'm still cool enough to lend people the benefit to reveal themselves before I judge them in the grand arena that is my mind.

If I do, it will usually be related to gender. But I try to avoid that nowadays. and I never say it when I do assume it.

i look at avatars because i find it easier than looking at the name, i do try my hardest to make asumptions based on what people have to say instead

Only very slightly, as infamousscamola said, it is a part of our internet identity. And I must admit I have an instant, slight bias against anyone with a ZP avatar.

Yes, If they contain anime or any other entertainment media from Japan, Korea or China. Or if it is a teenager who has taken a cellphone-picture of him-/herself looking very 'serious/sexy'.

Otherwise, no. And the effect is weak and brief so it has never overshadowed what the person has actually posted.

Not really, although it can contain an insight into their personality. What they post is the most important but if someone has, say, a disgusting image then it makes me question their future on these forums and how long before they're banned for doing something nasty.
