If someone has an anime picture on it, it's not hard to tell what kind of TV shows they watch. If someone has a picture from Unforgotten Realms, guess what they will be doing on Thursday.

Usually I just try to figure out if the avatar is made by them or what. I personally think it gives people more credibility if they made their own avatar, either that or it just means they are somewhat lazy. Before you start pitchforking me, let me continue.

What I mean is, when I see a game-related avatar, (GoW just for an example) I tend to take them as more of a fanboy than an open minded person. Plus, making an avatar indicates you care enough about the forums to show who YOU ARE. For instance, I use my cartoon character for mine.

Seriously, usually I don't even notice the avatar. My eyes go to what is being said too quickly to notice. Avatars are somewhat wasted on me.

it shows me a little info about who it is how he looks, if i think about that person i imagine him as how the avatar looks like a naked bruce lee with a gun, a beer or an ugly mario.
