Do good female gamers actually exsist?

There are plenty female gamers that come to mind. Ivory Doll for example is really kick ass.

As for me, I don't suck completely, but I don't excel at it either.

Otherwise they keep their mics off, because... well if you've been in a lobby with 10 guys, and 1 girl on a mic, the guys are all over the girl.

Um... yes. I've never met any in real life, but once I got destroyed on Left 4 Dead 2 by a team of all girls.

But you know, I think the statistics for the genders of gamers are... well, just not true. I play online a lot and most everyone I have seen online are guys. The only exception is LittleBigPlanet where it's pretty much equal.

Statistics also show around two-thirds of online girls gamers use male avatars to avoid the whole "r u hawt" schtick.

Makes the whole topic a bit of amind screw, eh?

I know quite a few women who play a mean game of Team Fortess 2, one in particular is a very good Heavy, which isn't easy to do what with all the Direct Hit soldiers, spies, and spammy demos.

actually, when I was in high school, I knew this girl named Cambrie (I actually have no idea how her name was spelled) and she was an amazing sniper, girl just did not miss... at all.

My wife is good. Not at Halo or fighting games, but she got really good at sniping in Rainbow six Vegas, and she kicks my ass in TBS games like Medieval and Civ.

I think the reason that most gamer girls are less skilled than guys is that most do other things with their time. Guys tend more to the obsessive, shut-in tendencies of spending hours on end playing games, while girls tend to get out more.

So, do girls tend to be less good at games? In my experience, yes, but it says more about guys than anything else.

I'm a girl gamer and I think I'm pretty good at MW2, but I don't go out of my way to show that I'm a girl, like I have a gender neutral Gamertag, I don't put my name or any really girly things on my motto, bio, ect.
But I think most guy gamers dont like girls playing competitive online games for 3 reasons:
1.) The FPS's any game in general is supposed to be their "Teritory".
2.) Most guy gamers are masochistic, egotistical, sadistic, and sexist.
When it comes to online gaming.
3.) Most Guy gamers think that because your a girl you have to suck, and if/when you beat them it makes them angry because Xbox Live, PSN, ect. is their outlet to show who is the alpha male, not alpha FEmale.

Honest opinion here guys. Have you met any good female gamers?

I've noticed as a female gamer half the time it's assumed that I'm just a button masher who plays video games to make things easier for a boyfriend(if I have one >.o)But I'm actually pretty good and by pretty good I mean none of my guy friends will play fighting games of halo with me anymore cause they were tired of getting beast by a girl XD. Also what's the deal with that? Why can't you guys take defeat at the hands of a woman? Is it one of those immasculating things?

I live in fear of female gamers. Because chances are they can kick my ass at any game I play.
I don't know if there's necessarily less "good" female gamers.
All the female gamers I tend to see are either collosally shit, or insanely good. There's no middle ground.

Yes, I have ment some awesome gamer chicks, unfortunatley I forget to add some of them to my friends list. Hell I even seen some pretty cool let's player chicks as well.

I've simply not run across any...perhaps I'm looking in all the wrong places because I'm usually the only chick playing games with the guys while most of the time I hear comments from them like 'I wish my girlfriend played video games.' So NO I was not trying to annoy anyone....since this was a gaming site I was simply curious if they were some awesome female gamers out there giving you boysd a run for your money.

I have had a few kick my ass in MW2 & Red Dead multi. Not to be all vain but I'm damn good at FPS's. Gender in gaming is just stereotyping that all girls can do is wash the dish's and make a man his dinner that is very annoying. But on the up side I love when boy's send me hate mail over XBL complaining that they just got beat by a girl makes me smile.

I think everyone has equal pegging when it comes to gaming.

The problem here is that the loudest segment of gamers are the internet tough guys.

Just because you can't avoid hearing them, doesn't mean they're right.

Yes, I have dated two. I honestly don't see why you are questioning this. There are good gamers and there are girl gamers. There is going to be some cross over.

I have played against plenty of girls and some of them are pretty good, and caused quite a bit of frustration. If a girl kills me in a game a lot, I do the same thing when a guy kills me alot.
