Do good female gamers actually exsist?

Yes, I know one girl who is pretty good at RPGs and action games and another friend who is really good at fighting games. The sad thing is that the latter has been perfecting her fighting game techniques for years and she still lost to me when I was just mashing buttons. It took her a while to calm down after that.

As a long time gamer, I personally believe that the "girl gamer" is wonderful myth concoted by WoW players to convince themselves that they may yet have chance at passing down their gene pool to some other unfortunate soul.

I kid, I kid. But I've never actually good girl gamers, but it's partly because I rarely play multilayer games that I'm bad at.

I can't speak for too many games but I run with women all the time in WoW. The guild I'm in is pretty much 60% male and 40% female. It actually may be a closer ratio but I don't exactly run around asking everyone who logs in 'hey, what genital configuration are you?'. They run the gamut - some suck, some are great, most fall somewhere in between.

Two that I know top the meters for healing and damage. The healer was so good that when she left our guild it wrecked our lineup. The damager doesn't quite smoke me but she's got amazing skills.

My fiance isn't the best at shooters, but as far as RPG's are concerned she's better than me. Esp. in World of Warcraft. While I can raid with the best of them, she works the auction house like its a magic gold dispensing machine, levels characters in record time (I have 4 80's on my account alone that were leveled solely by her, in 3-5 days apiece), has raped every profession for all its secrets (I don't have the time to level them all to max) and beats the crap out of me in PvP.
So, yes there are good girl gamers... and thankfully I'm marrying one.
Shit, without her I'd still be working on my epic flyer.

I've noticed as a female gamer half the time it's assumed that I'm just a button masher who plays video games to make things easier for a boyfriend(if I have one >.o)But I'm actually pretty good and by pretty good I mean none of my guy friends will play fighting games of halo with me anymore cause they were tired of getting beast by a girl XD. Also what's the deal with that? Why can't you guys take defeat at the hands of a woman? Is it one of those immasculating things?

yeah i think it's heavily linked the social stigmatic roles for men and women: men are the providers, whereas women are supposed to stay at home, give birth to and watch over children. i might even go so far as to say that it's genetically coded, but then i would theoretically be talking out of my ass (but it could be).

being an elitist prick with the epeen the size of planetary destroyers, i do not believe that any woman, man or other being could ever emasculate me.

I'm a male gamer, and I've met a few good girl gamers in my time (in real life, not online). I've never heard of a gamer who was upset that he was beaten by a girl, lol. Usually when guys get upset that a girl beats them, it's usually at some sport or something that takes physical fitness, as guys are expected to be stronger than girls.

I'm not sure how gender, race, sex, etc. defines how good you are at a game. So short answer, yes, there are good female gamers.

I've seen good gamers who are female and bad ones who are female, it doesn't really seem gender is an issue, just personal skill.
Same as with dudes, really.

I've met good and bad gamers of either gender and don't think it makes a blind bit of difference to your playing skill what bits you've got.
In my experience, these ideas are more due to the babbling of the idiots you have to put up with when gaming online than any actual level of fact.

Never really met any, I'm sure there are some. But what I really want to know, are there any females that don't completely suck at smash bros? FPS are one thing, but I have never seen a girl with much skill at fighting games that aren't just spamming. I've heard many who claim they are good at it, then they claim to be really good with Kirby or Link, and jump around killing themselves.

An equally viable question would be "Do good guy gamers exist?" To which the answer is obviously yes. Two X Chromosomes doesn't inherently make someone suck at games, especially considering human genetics are far old than video games, so there aren't any genes relating to them.
