Incidentally, my girlfriend is way better at Left 4 Dead than I am. Like, she can recognize all the audio cues and pop off headshots like it's no big thing. During most of our playthroughs, she ends up spending half the game saving my ass.

joking aside, yes, they exist. I know firsthand because both my younger brother and cousin made it their mission in life to find them in MW2... and, they found them... a lot of them. A few of which served me my own ass on a silver platter [this is probably moreso because I suck at MW2 really hard and do'nt care, but they were consistently near the top of the team the entire session too)

However, they represent a VERY small percentage of the population of females overall, and, of those there are even less that are actually "good". regardless, they exist. and a few of them are pretty damn good

I was completely obliterating the enemy team by myself. I was even so confident enough to only use my pistol. The one guy got so pissed off, he threatened to, and I quote, "I'll et my girlfriend to kick your ass." I lol'd hard, so did my teammates. That was the wrongest I've ever been. She was the first to grab the sniper rifle and shot all our heads off in less than 30 seconds. I started playing seriously. For the rest of the rounds, it was only the guy's girlfriend and I, and I lost everytime. She did horrible things to me. Instead of being kind enough to end the rounds, she T-bagged, pistol-wanking, rain-danced, and finally curbstomping my head into the pavement.
So, don't piss off gamer chicks.

yes I know good gamers and some of them are girls....others are guys. I mean I know since we can't see faces we assume all other gamers are like ourselves. Why do we care about sex or gender in a game? All that matter is getting the other team in range and blasting away. These topics always make me laugh. There are girls... they are real? your messin with me right? and they play games?

I'm a girl gamer and I think I'm pretty good at MW2, but I don't go out of my way to show that I'm a girl, like I have a gender neutral Gamertag, I don't put my name or any really girly things on my motto, bio, ect.
But I think most guy gamers dont like girls playing competitive online games for 3 reasons:
1.) The FPS's any game in general is supposed to be their "Teritory".
2.) Most guy gamers are masochistic, egotistical, sadistic, and sexist.
When it comes to online gaming.
3.) Most Guy gamers think that because your a girl you have to suck, and if/when you beat them it makes them angry because Xbox Live, PSN, ect. is their outlet to show who is the alpha male, not alpha FEmale.

Actually according to some statistics I've read as much as 40% of the gaming player base are women. Also finding girl gamers isn't difficult. If you've ever looked at XBL event listings you'll see there are apparently enough women playing games where there is a "Gamer Chix" organization that holds ladies only nights for various games, along with it being specified that guys are not welcome to crash. Also I get the impression there has been a lot of catty stuff, because one of the things they specify is that it's not a beauty contest and all of them are "beautiful in their own way".

I'd also point out while I haven't heard much about them recently, Ubisoft was running a female team of gamers called the "Frag Dolls" for promotional reasons. I believe they had a couple of try outs and had decent numbers of applicants, apparently skill at playing games was one of the requirements as I read it.

Not to mention someone just put up a video in another thread showing some lady threatening people with a piece from a car jack because they allegedly threw her out of her guild in WoW or whatever. I suspect the video was a fake, but well.. if it wasn't there is another example for you despite the level of sanity involved (going purely by the video).

I've noticed as a female gamer half the time it's assumed that I'm just a button masher who plays video games to make things easier for a boyfriend(if I have one >.o)But I'm actually pretty good and by pretty good I mean none of my guy friends will play fighting games of halo with me anymore cause they were tired of getting beast by a girl XD. Also what's the deal with that? Why can't you guys take defeat at the hands of a woman? Is it one of those immasculating things?

I have a friend grace, and she's pretty good at Fable II and the Left 4 Dead series. She is also decent at the fire fight mode in Halo: ODST. My sister is improving as well, but i haven't seen them play much else. Otherwise its just us guys (in my circle of friends).
who play everything else. Im the champion of my friends in fighting games, and tied for first in the Rock Band franchise. Care to spar? My gamer tag is in my profile.

To add to the female gamer thing, the reason why we don't see many on XBL or PSN is that a lot of the (cave)men have the tits or gtfo policy if they come across one. So a lot of women gamers will pose as men as to not be harassed that way.

A few irl. Online? Probably. I never ask people online for their gender, their race or their sexuality... I don't care if you're a giant cross-eyed walrus-kangaroo hybrid who somehow learned how to play video games, as long as you know your role ingame and can perform it sufficiently well. 'Course, that might affect Ventrilo communication somewhat, so let's hope that if you're a walrus-roo, you play a simple class.

What does "good" even mean? Everyone, regardless of whether they have a penis or vag, is usually good at some games and not others. I suck balls at MW2, but I'm pretty good at Left4dead. Then again, there is ALWAYS someone better, so you'll always suck to some people. Just the same there is always someone who sucks worse, so you'll be like a god to them. Gender is irrelevant.

In my experience these threads are usually created to draw attention to the fact that "Omg Imma gurl and I kick ASS in Mw!" so when I see one I can't help but roll my eyes. This topic is a dead horse constantly being revived, and it needs to freakin' die.

Seriously, everyone needs to stop bringing it up and let us play our games in peace without having attention called to our vaginas. (funny how a chick usually starts the thread)

As for the original question: Yeah, probably. I play online a lot, so who knows who the hell is on the other side of the screen? And my best friend is really good at RE5 -- she kicks ass in Mercenaries. I mean, she's the type to obsess over score and crap, so she does that with pretty much every game. I usually don't care at all, so I don't try as hard and end up dying horribly. I'm not even gonna' come here and say, "Well I'M one of them!" because there are too many damn games I've played/sucked at/did okay in/did good in/did really good in for me to even label myself a "good" or "bad" "female gamer".

Also, does it MATTER if they're good? Does it matter if ANYONE is good? I think as long as they're fun to play with then they're cool.

That's just my opinion though.

And no, I was not trying to be offensive or anythin'. It's just my own opinion.
