Honest opinion here guys. Have you met any good female gamers?

I've noticed as a female gamer half the time it's assumed that I'm just a button masher who plays video games to make things easier for a boyfriend(if I have one >.o)But I'm actually pretty good and by pretty good I mean none of my guy friends will play fighting games of halo with me anymore cause they were tired of getting beast by a girl XD. Also what's the deal with that? Why can't you guys take defeat at the hands of a woman? Is it one of those immasculating things?

Please feel free to make your comments I really want to know.
Yes, saw plenty. Don't mind them playing games nor losing from them, in fact I'm pretty 'happy' when I see one as they've been a rare sight up until recently (still are in Serbia), always nice to see another female cross what's for some reason been marked as guy-only territory.

2.) Most guy gamers are masochistic, egotistical, sadistic, and sexist.
When it comes to online gaming.
Speaking of sexism, did you just call guy gamers egotistical and sadistic in the same sentence you called them sexist? Because that seems a bit sexist to me, lady.
Was actually thinking just that... really hate when women talk about sexist men and then label all men as sexist + negative qualities >.>

Of course they don't. How could you possibly be good at video games if you're a girl? What would they press buttons with!?!

Sure there are good female gamers, one of them happens to be one of my best friends. She's been able to give me a run for my money in every Command & Conquer game since Red Alert 2 for quite a while after she was introduced to it. She can also hold her own fairly well in FPS games.

She's completed Morrowind, Oblivion, Fable 1 & 2, and a bunch of older generation RPGs, also most of the King's Quest series and a few other adventure games she's told me about playing when she was a kid.

Never really met any, I'm sure there are some. But what I really want to know, are there any females that don't completely suck at smash bros? FPS are one thing, but I have never seen a girl with much skill at fighting games that aren't just spamming. I've heard many who claim they are good at it, then they claim to be really good with Kirby or Link, and jump around killing themselves.
I'm pretty useless at FPS games, but Smash Bros? I would say I'm pretty good. Usually roll with Marth or Toon Link or ROB if I want to win. But where I'm *really* unbeatable to the point where people won't play me is in Tetris. I just absolutely ream everyone I play against, even the people who taught me how to play in the first place.

But sadly I only know one other girl gamer all that well and we play DnD together with our significant others, and we don't hang out all that often outside of our DnD sessions. I know a lot of girls who love gaming but I typically end up spending my time playing games with a big group of guys. Huh.

No - ive noticed a fair few in L4D and MW, but while they tend to be decent at the game, they tend to fail at coordination. (As in, saving the only other surviving team member, backtracking for security reasons, suppressive fire, and other obscure things that you underappreciate until someone Doesnt do it.)

Being a gamer is a traditionally masculine role, so people just assume that any females who fill that role don't do so well. I'm a girl gamer, and I'm pretty damn good. If I tell people who haven't seen me game that I play, I get condescending looks and remarks like "You don't GAME. You button mash" or "WiiFit isn't gaming" (I don't even own a WiiFit).

I also work in IT, and I've been told "I really don't think you can handle this problem. Is anyone else here?" "Are you looking for someone in particular?" "Well...are there guys here?"

I have a question for those of you who think that there are no good girl gamers. I'm curious. Do you doubt all girls in traditionally male roles? And is the reverse true? Do you doubt the skill of a female police officer just as much as you doubt the skill of a male nurse?

No, I personally have not. I've met girl gamers, but none of them have ever been anything that I'd hold to a high standard when it comes to video games. I've been playing games all my life and it doesn't really matter the genre, I'll be pretty good at it. This leads to me being usually very unimpressed by supposed "good players", female OR male.

Anyways, do good female gamers exist? Sure. You yourself say you are one of them.
Do I know any thats worth their weight in salt? Nope.

Yes, i've met skilled players from all walks of life. I don't really care who my opponent is to be honest, I just play games because they're fun.

This topic made me sad. Please stop being sexist. And you -are- if you're distinguishing between the two races.

One of the best competitive Counter Strike Source players I've ever met told me once that I was probably the best female CS:S player he's ever met. That meant a lot to me, because this is a guy that I could never beat. It made me happy and a little proud knowing that while he was near impossible for me to beat, that he considered me to be a dangerous encounter.

I've met great girl gamers. Girls are not bad gamers. If you get a girl interested in a game, we're every bit as capable of being as super skilled as any guy. Games are often made with guys in mind. Made for guys, by guys, staring guys, killing guys, etc etc. It's a common knowledge. When a girl becomes interested, she's dangerous. I know lots of girls interested in Pokemon, and they're badass. I know a handful of girls that (like me) at one time played a first person shooter a lot, and like me, were skilled. It's a game that has all skill ranges. Like any guy, they're skilled or unskilled as the next person.

So I say it's entirely dependant on interest levels of the individual. There are common interests in specific genders, but there are still those that enjoy what's popular to either one gender.

Yes...My fiance beats the crap outta people on many games.
Other than that? No...Because if I'm in a game with you...You are not a gender you are a pixel and I couldn't care if I'm bested by a man or...woooman..(?)

I think if you get busted by some guys on a game...That's because guys suck...As do...weeeemen (Did I pronounce that correctly...?)

So don't worry about the ultimate question "Do good feeemale gamers exsist" think about the more important question of "Can I stab it/shoot it/airstrike it/run it over and/or pee on it?"

I know tons of girls who play WoW, raid, and PVP, there doesn't seem to be an issue. Heck the leader of my guild is a girl.

It might be differant with action games though, I generally don't play enough shooters to have really gotten a good feel for how it breaks down there, and when it comes to fighting games I generally am not chatting... nor is the person I'm playing against unless it's to say something rude, or file an unsportsmanlike complaint against me for beating them (this happened all the time to me when Soul Calibur IV came out).

Watch this at 2:11, hun. [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YBfB-UCRCxo]

Why are you being so defensive? Why are you making so many judgments about the male gaming audience? Why do you assume you know what they're thinking? Ever hear of double standards? To get respect as a female gamer, you don't need to belittle male gamers. Of course there are good female gamers. Just because you are one doesn't mean I want to hear your bragging.

No one likes to lose again and again and again, to a woman or guy...gets depressing, and I do have a friend who is a girl who is damn good...also a lesbian...hrmmm...seems they do have to be "like a guy" to play well...oh well lol.

Um, can you say "sexism"? Clearly, you are underexposed to the fairer sex. Surface from your cave and meet people, you misogynistic troll.

Eh, this is directed at the (see above insult) that replied yes, and supplied no reason, or an inadequate reason.
