No. I rarely ever even look at peoples profiles. I judge people by what they write.

I don't even look at infraction meters, I had forgot about them until I read the thread title, haha. So no I don't.
Wow. The first two posters on this topic have the same birthday! :-O What are the chances?
1/365, since you ask.

Not really. I'm still for making the meter private though as I do wonder what most people start wondering about my one warning.

[sub]Low content btw.[/sub]
Somehow, I find it hard to believe you had a low content post. XD
Oh pfft.

Just ask Sassafrass, he was there after all :p

No I don't really care at all to be perfectly honest. I might have a look if I am in an argument with someone or the person makes a very abrasive comment then I will compare it posts and join date and formulate an idea in my head of when and if they might possibly get banned. I never go back to check but it really doesn't matter it should be optionally private though.

I kind of feel like the system is about to weed you out. I'm unsure how you manage to get that many infractions in such little time. I've never gotten a single infraction in the entire time I've been here... but then again I guess I post at a rate MUCH lower than yourself.
Maybe I can turn this "system ready to weed me out" position into a game! :D How long can I last on my last "life", per se? Wouldn't it be funny if I went for over a year with that banhammer looming near me? :)

I got off of a 14-day suspension recently, which is my last one before the banhammer comes crashing down on my head. However, out of those 7 infractions, I say about three were for low-content posts and two where for not really posting relevant to the topic. One was for trolling (for what I said about console fanboys ...) and one was for what I said about the moderators and admins at the Steam Users' Forum.

However, if you look at my infraction meter, it seems like I'm some sort of diabolical troll who loves pissing people off and insulting them.

So, my question is: Do you automatically judge others users here based on their infraction meter without much previous knowledge of them?

Also, a question for the mods: Do you guys, the moderators, judge people based on their infraction count? Do you see someone with a high count like me and go, "Ugh, can't wait to ban this ************. [imitating "Dirty Harry"] Come on, punk, say something. Make my day!" or do you just look at things from a stoic point of view?

EDIT: For some reason, the poll appears to be broken. Removing the word "Poll" from the title.
Actually, to be honest, yes

I even keep a list of people I don't like on this site who are in the red, and check on it every so often to see if they got banned yet, and how it happened.

I judge people only on the content of their posts. I've never even looked at in infraction meter on this site before you just brought it up.

If they're a rude person, and I check their account and see they have five or more infractions, and not many posts, yes.

But if they're a nice person, I won't even look at their infractions.

Well, now that you bring it up, I'm judging you.

But I'm judging you as someone who cares about infraction bars.

Not the best judgement in the world.

Nope. Though, uh, us clean slate guys, well, we need to stick together.

I suppose, if we ever came to a theoretical situation with two people, identical save for their forum meter, coming to me to resolve a heated argument I don't even understand, then I might take the meter into account, but otherwise, because you get them for relatively passive things as well, it doesn't say much about the poster.

I never said I did. Never once did I say that. This is all just a question for the good (and naughty) people of the Escapist and I just wanted to know people's different standpoints on it. :p

I don't like it, cause, well, no more Hankman puns. *sigh*

I don't really care about it, If I have to go as far as look at a persons profile, I'm probably looking for something else anyways.

Like I give a hoot. Users usually profile themselves through posts.

It's like saying that a book is lame because there is no picture on the cover. Makes no sense.

Negatory. When a user can be banned for mentioning that they use an adblocker I don't think the infraction meter is a particularly good indicator of how they are on the forums.

I'm all game for infractions and rulebreaking, so I should check the profiles more often then.

People who break rules are generally more interesting that people who don't. But that is just my opinion.

As a side note:
I was one of two administrators (including the moderation stuff) for a small Forum half a year ago.
The power I had there felt good. It was fun and I felt good abusing my priviliges while nobody noticed and every single user praised my volontary commiment. But I resigned before getting too addicted because I forsaw that this forum wasn't going to satisfy my hunger for long...

Nah, not in the slightest. I know how easy it is to get warnings, they mean pretty much nothing. On the net I usually just judge people by what they say, when they say it (or sometimes based off previous things they've said to me, if they were particularly memorable).

Also, this system seems kind of cruel. Will you be perma-banned if you make a single low-content post now? How long does it take for the bar to go down?

To a point.

My mom can't play FPSes or anything like that, but we like playing hidden-object games (they don't have any fast movements that make er sick), mainly because it's something that we can both do and spend some time with each other. It is also one of the few things we can do together, and more importantly, do it without pissing each other off. Because none of my gaming PCs are on the internet, I buy them at Wal-Mart.

What I've discovered is that, besides that the best ones are from Big Fish games, the better games come in the full, DVD-case-sized, plastic containers, while the sucky ones come in the little, CD case containers. Reason is that the Publishers of the boxed copies (Activison) put the better games into the better containers, as those cost more, and put the crappy, repetitious ones in the little cases, because those cost less.

Sometimes, a lot gets revealed of the item's quality in the packaging.

I hope people don't, because I'm a massive **** and yet I've never got a warning or anything. Someone who does something like that may, in fact, assume that I am not a massive **** just because I have never broken the rules.
