Not the infraction meter, but I do check 100% of the "this user was warned for this post" posts. Yeah you heard me, one hundred percent.
Exactly the same here. I have to know what they did. Then I check their profile to see how many they have.

To a point.

My mom can't play FPSes or anything like that, but we like playing hidden-object games (they don't have any fast movements that make er sick), mainly because it's something that we can both do and spend some time with each other. It is also one of the few things we can do together, and more importantly, do it without pissing each other off. Because none of my gaming PCs are on the internet, I buy them at Wal-Mart.

What I've discovered is that, besides that the best ones are from Big Fish games, the better games come in the full, DVD-case-sized, plastic containers, while the sucky ones come in the little, CD case containers. Reason is that the Publishers of the boxed copies (Activison) put the better games into the better containers, as those cost more, and put the crappy, repetitious ones in the little cases, because those cost less.

Sometimes, a lot gets revealed of the item's quality in the packaging.
Of course, you have your little gems that entertain you till you drop dead (so to speak) Such as... well.. Braid for example, or Mount and Blade or ... well I suppose Freddy Fish as well. But I'm not going to go to everyone's profile to see what their meter is like. Mnah. People profile themselves through posts and generally I try to stay clear from valuejudgements (I.e. He is a jerk because of so he is always a jerk and suches)

I don't find it worth the effort to go to profiles and check it all out. Normally I just skim the posts till I see something interesting or.. well mentionworthy :)

No, I rarely look at other people's forum health meters. Personally I think the whole forum health meter thing is retarded. Not the concept itself, but the fact that the meter never goes down. That coupled with the fact that this forum is run somewhat akin to Nazi Germany minus the genocide leaves me feeling like I'm walking on eggshells filled with broken glass every time I come here.

It goes down a pip after 6 months of no infractions and then set to 0 after 2 years without any. So it does go down but it just takes forever to.

nope. i dont look at other peoples profiles. far too lazy. has little to nothing to do with me.

however, in real life i do judge people by their looks. after working different retail/jobs that deal with customers for 4 years i can tell by looking and talking to a dude if he is a thief, a druggy, or just an asshole.

...by that i mean features and or qualities. not "if they are hot or not"

Wow. The first two posters on this topic have the same birthday! :-O What are the chances?
1/365, since you ask.
I think it would be more like 1/730. But then leap-year would change the odds as well, so... wait, who cares?

OT: No, I never look at peoples profiles. I am too busy looking at posts.

Not really no. I've only got two warnings thus far, yet I believe I've posted some much more inflammatory shit than some of the things I've seen people get slapped with suspensions for. Unless they've managed to accumulate enough infractions to be on their last health point in less than a 100 posts or something than I don't think it's really much of a reflection on the user.

Not all the time since I never really look at peoples profiles unless they post something that makes me curious enough to check. I am only really wary of a person if they are in the red. Other then that I usually judge people by what they post.

Oh really? 'Cause when they first introduced the thing they said that it never goes down. I know 'cause I got into a debate with one of the admins about it. So when did this change?

What you think before someone responds to a post they check out your profile and then go ok I like this guy lets go...
I don't I don't know about any of the others maybe it is you just had very meh posts, or you were just unlucky and it did not get onto the front page. I got to admit I rarly go trundeling thought the actual forums just go to the recently posted and hot topics.

[EDIT] threads even...

I usually dont look at someones profile unless they message me, say something that makes me think I know them or they are close to me, or unless I want to check where they're from if it says (like when they say "where Im from we _______").

though fi I see someone was banned/suspended/warned for something, I usually go to the link and read why.

...

but no. mostly cause I dont usually see the same people on the site unless its quotes in the same thread (though I've been seeing a lot of that ghengis guy with the spice and wolf avatar where we keep running into each other in threads) so I have no reason to really judge them. and even when i do, i dont, mostly cause there sno real reason to.

I don't usually check profiles for the infraction meter. I look for birthdays, trying to find other Virgos here and whatnot. However, I can't help but observe the bar while I'm at it, but I never put much thought into it, unless it's red-lined. Then, while I don't judge, I do have to wonder why they are in that state.

Also, don't forget Plants Vs. Zombies! :)

I disagree about the place being run like "Nazi Germany minus Genocide". The mods usually stay out of the way most part here and we at least get to say "Goddamn motherfucking shit fucker" without incurring wrath as long as it's not directed towards anyone. At least the mods here don't threaten to ban you and afterwards send you an EMAIL saying "SEE, I TOLD YOU SO" (umm, harassment?) and then the admins say they are NOT overstepping their boundaries! And yes, that ACTUALLY happened on a big forum (not here, though).

However, I DO agree that the meter should go down after a period of time, depending on the crime. Like, a week for low content and so on, except for trolling, harrasment and moderator insulting. Yeah, currently, it's like we all clocks, ticking down until we all get banned.

EDIT: Wait, just saw a reply above saying they do. Nevermind.

I only time I even check their health meter is if I find a "User has " post. And then, I have a post that they typed to help me figure out how trolly they are.

I saw the OP's suspension, and I was pretty confused by it. Did you appeal?

Nope... there's Six Month Amnesty, and a full clearing after two years of no infractions.

It's in the rules, go check.

Actually, higher than you'd imagine.

I do believe the chances of two people in a group of 23 having the same birthday are actually close to 1/2, so it's not that rare.

OT: I generally leave people's profiles alone, and assume they do the same for me, so I ignore the fact that it exists.

Yeah, I tried to, but since I mentioned the specific admin who insulted me, that meant I was flaming an individual, even though he really did, from a fair stance, deserve to be called what I called him.

Yeah, I saw someone post that above. I added a "nevermind" part below it, but I guess I didn't get to it in time. :)

No I don't I tend to just read what they have written and judge from that. If I think someone may be trolling or intentionally causing flames I sometimes have a look at their profile to confirm my suspicions.

In a way i do.
If, let's say they have got a lot of warnings/ moderator wrath in a short period of time (let's say if you're on the red and still under 100 posts) then i know they won't last long.

However, if they've got a few (2-4) warnings over a 1000 post count, then i know that they're usually good people.

Hell, i've got 2 warnings and one of them i got for a reason which i didn't even know existed!
The other one was for a mis-understanding.
I once got a low-content post for a mistype. I accidentally wrote my comment in the quote box, so I got reported.

woah, you've got a high infraction count. wouldn't want to come across you in virtual darkened alley or off the beaten cyber path.

actually i don't look at profiles. i never know how many infractions someone has.

i do however like to click on the so-and-so was banned/got a warning for this post. click to reveal?
