Of course money can buy happiness. Money can buy puppies, and puppies are solid happiness.

Of course it can't. It can buy comforts though and luxeries.

It can make your life "better" but not necessarily "happier".

If I had enough money for my own place, a blazing fast internet connection, an abundance of food, and all the recreational drugs I could ever want, I can assure you that I'd be one happy camper.

Hrrm... I'd probably set up quite a few charities and buy myself some land from a dictator in africa. I'd start by injecting money into their economy and importing some building labour to create factories and schools I'd then hire from the local population to fill the positions that they can before importing more skilled labour to handle the more complex tasks whilst offering training to the people employed in said buildings.

After a few years the economy of this new country will start to stablise and the population will be in a very happy place, I'd continue expanding my land and buying more and more from the dictators whilst maintaining the charities.

Doing all this wouldn't make me happy, but it would make me content and that's all I ask for in what I do.

It would make me very happy because I would finally get to build my Mecha and force all to become my slave under my regime. Which will eventually lead to genocide and maybe pudding.

Yes as it can buy you all the things that will make you happy :)
Best. Avatar. Ever.

OT: Yes. Yes it could. It would make me happy because I could buy everything I wanted and buy things for needy peoples and buy things for my family and have fun the rest of my life.

Yes, it can buy happiness, but either temporarily or of a different kind than earnt happiness. On one hand, you'll be rich, and thus can buy anything you want, but you might not have a partner that loves you because of your... well, you-ness, just the money. So that's one kind of happiness, and the other you may have a loving, perfect relationship with the girl of your dreams, but live in a flat in a rough part of London. Two sides of one coin, in my opinion.

Wouldn't unlimited amounts of a currency just kinda nuke the economy and make your country dirt poor?

I believe that having a lot of money can mean that you are protected from issues that cause a great deal of stress and disturbance to people. If you are freed of the burdens of having to worry about money then yes, I believe a happier mental state can be achieved.

Whether it can then go on to buy true happiness will depend on the individual. I have a sneaking suspicion that someone spending a lot of money on travel (keeping themselves and their time occupied) will be more "happy" than the person who goes out and buys their 20th Ferrari.

Money cannot buy happiness, but a lack of money can cause unhappiness. So if you are getting money to make up for a lack of it, it will cause happiness, but only to a point. Money is one of those things in life that runs face first into the law of diminishing returns.

Well, if i did have an unlimited amount of money, chances are that i would give lots of it to the people around me, thus making their lives a bit more happier, thus making my life better knowing that I've helped people.
