Do you buy games you don't have consoles for?

Yes, and no. I buy a game if I know it won't be around by the time I can afford the console. (This is back before used stores that sell you the scratched up non-working version of a game, with a fake box and nothing else for only $20 cheaper.)

These days, I'll buy one that I never plan to get the console for, only if it's just really obscure, and I see a really good price. Like, I got the Urusei Yatsura Mega CD game for only $20 once. I've never seen it for sale since or before. I don't plan on getting a Japanese Mega CD, and I can't play it unless I do, but i still like to have the game as a fan of the series.

I've bought games I don't have the console for, but I can play them on one of my current consoles.

Example: PS1 games, but I have a PS2. Xbox games but I have a 360.

I bought Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Pariots for PS3 and I don't own a PS3 :p

Admittedly I was planning on borrowing my friend's PS3 for a week so I guess it doesn't count, but I still have the game despite not being able to play it again, I'm a bit of a completionist like that!

Also in a slightly related manner... I have bought various special editions of games whilst still having the bog standard version. Usually long after the release and cheap on Ebay. This means I technically have many versions of the same game and some probably won't be played. Again, me and my collections!

For example:

Halo 2 & Halo 2 LCE
Silent Hill 2 & Director's cut
MGS2 & MGS2: Substance
MGS3 & MGS3: Subsistence

Then there are the damned PC games which I have bought and realise won't run on my poor puny system, ahh sad times.

heh, i didn't go exactly into hiding when people remarked on the retardness of the action, but as someone with a weird hobby for collecting consoles and select games, I knew i was definately gonna get one soon. I reasoned with myself that I could alway sell it on Ebay and get a bit of profit out of it because ps3 games are so expensive down here.

Bit suprised not many people do that. I would have thought some people might have bought a game in the hopes their friend wouldn't "mind" if you came over their house and used their console to play it.

What the fu-

Why would anyone do that? It's great when it's half price until you've got to pay another £200 for the machine to play it on.

Oh yes. I also buy spare tyres for cars I haven't got, get the plumbing fixed in houses I haven't bought, buy UMDs for PSPs I haven't got, and buy DLC for games I haven't got.
Anyone see where I'm going with this?

Actually, I've done this. My boyfriend's brother has a PS3 and I bought a used copy of a game and I keep it there. I'm up there a few days a week, so it just seems like a good idea. I'm not buying brand new copies of games, but cheap, used ones.

Well kinda. I bought both Crysis and World in Conflict before my last re-build when all i had was an old pentium D and a slightly busted 8600GTS (which still works better then ever to this day in my mother's PC i built out of all string, gum and paper clips. That thing runs more reliably than my new one. It's baffling!)

Both games looked like ass on that old buld but i bought them as almost an aspiration "One day, i will run you. and run you at max!" i vowed. And i now do. Feels good man.
My relationship with Oblivion started like that. When I got it I had 256mb of RAM.
this is me right now with GTA IV

can get anything better than 25 fps on medium >.<

OT: nope, cause im a pc and i dont feel inclined to get games for other things because... well, i dont have anything else but my fiances ps2 i hardly play. and i dont buy games for that cause my friend has like every ps2 game you could want to play and doesnt mind me borrowing them

Nope, but I've bought a console (DS) for a game (Pokemon: Heart Gold) and ended up getting more games for it.

Welcome to the forums fella, and to answer your question. No.

It'd be a) a waste of money, and b) really frustrating.

I've done this before. I bought Oblivion for the 360 and then Crisis Core for the PSP. I knew I was able to get a loan of the consoles I'd need to play them on. Then I gave both games to the guy who loaned me the hardware.

O.T. No, because that would be a stupid thing to do, unless it was for someone else or by accident.
Thanks for the welcome. My post communicated basically as much information as your own post did... plus it was a closed question.

Sometimes I buy pc games that my computer can't run (either too old or too new), but only when they are insanely cheap. Just for the fun of having them and maybe play them someday when I get a pc that does run them. Mostly it's games that are a bit rare and I'm lucky to find them at that price.

It's not the quality, it's the consistency seems to be the motto around here. Even if it is a simple question and/or answer, people like it if you elaborate, two word answers don't contribute nearly has much. My post was 51 words long, yours was 2.

No. Not ever. why should you? Why buy the collector's edition if it costs more than $100?

It's ridiculous, maybe, if you plan on getting the console really soon, but if you wait til you get the console, you might get the games for a little less.
Why would you, other than buying for the future? Support the developer?
