I can crack my knuckles but I don't. My ankle pops every now and then on its own due to a soccer injury from years ago. And most recently after having somebody run into the back of my car.. I get my neck and back popped back into place via the chiropractor. That covers it.

I do it all the time, especially during warm up for Aikido. We rotate our wrists, neck, and we stretch our backs, so it's unavoidable, really.

I was once told that it was bad for you, but I know better now. An acquaintance of mine, a doctor, once told me that cracking ones joints results from nitrogen bubbles building up in the joints, and my roomate, who is a bio-engineering major, is also of the firm opinion that it's harmless.

Not that I needed any convincing that cracking one's knuckles or other joints is not bad for the joints. As I mentioned, I crack my joints all the time when I'm stretching during warm-up for Aikido. If cracking one's joints really was bad for you, then the older masters wouldn't be able to move like they do (i.e. like men half their age).

yes but not in the conventional way. basically I open my hand wide and make a tight fist one finger at a time starting from the pinky moving towards the thumb. I do it whenever my hand feels cramped numb or uncomfortable.

I crack my thumb. Just my thumb. My right thumb. In fact I did it when I saw the title of this thread. Not all the time though, just when it feels like it needs to be cracked. Which is fairly often. I do it by putting my pointer on middle knuckle of my thumb and then extending my thumb backwards and press my pointer against it at the same time. I don't know when I started doing it.

So I don't crack my knuckles, but I do crack a knuckle.

Yes I do actually! Question: can cracking your knuckles really lead to arthritis (or however you spell it) later on in life??

I also pop my knees while in bed, ankles as well. Do you crack each joint of your fingers?
Usually. Yes . Indeed. Sometimes I'm sitting and having a crack-feast (That sure didn't sound too good) cracking every single joint in my fingers. All of them. And it sure feels good =D

Snapping the joint in my thumb at the instant I read the thread title, no lie.
You do that too? Like only using your thumb? I love that. And it makes such a loud sound too =D
Also. When I have my elbow at the table, and hand in the air. And then I crack the join in my thumb, the table makes a cracking sound too XD

To set the record straight, I have seen from numerous reliable sources - it is just air popping and is completely harmless. So crack away, friends!
Allright =D
For a while I was worried that my finger's going to snap any time now. Wich would be bad considering I'm an electrician. And we need our fingers a lot

yep and when I don't my fingers get tense does that happen to anybody else?
*raises hand*
You should have seen the period when I was trying to stop it. cracking is an addiction. And my fingers were incerdibly tense. Almost a bit stiff =P

Also. When I'm walking, my ankle is cracking. So much for sneaking up on someone =P
I have a way to bypass that, though =D
And when I bend my knees to sit on the floor .. It's like *bening* crack "aaah" =P

Question: Do you read the former posts before you post your own? =P
No. In this thread, people have deconfirmed it. Some do not believe in this. And non has confirmed it

I'm serious.
I've got one on you, my ankles.
My roommate can pop his jaw.
My ankles occasionally happen, but not enough for me to include it in a list of regular poppables. I've had my jaw pop a few times, it was both relieving and painful at the same time lol.

Ok, so I crack my knuckles too (loudly and proudly), but both ways? How?!
I cringe at the mental imagery.

PS pics or it didn't happen.

Yeah, I crack my fingers, my shoulders, and my neck.

I can also crack my left big toe indefinitely. I've spent lots of time just cracking away at it, and it'll never go away. Sometimes it gets annoying, usually it feels fine.
