I've not seen a thread like this in quite a while so here goes
I just got accepted onto a training course to become a high school English teacher. My training will start in September, provided I get a decent final grade at university. I'm looking forward to and dreading it at the same time because teenagers can either be really cool and fun to work with or absolute little shits and all of my classes will, no doubt, be full of both. Let's hope the good amount of money I get and the long holiday times will be worth it. Something that should work in my favour is the fact that I'm an immature child myself so connecting with the kids shouldn't be difficult. One of my friends plans on becoming a playwright, another recently applied to work for MI5 and a third is going to be a lazy, unemployed arse. Right now they all seem far less daunting than... *gulp* ...teaching high school
My question to you is: do you enjoy your job? What do you do? Is the pay good? The hours fair? And, if you're a student, what are your career plans for the future?
