I've not seen a thread like this in quite a while so here goes

I just got accepted onto a training course to become a high school English teacher. My training will start in September, provided I get a decent final grade at university. I'm looking forward to and dreading it at the same time because teenagers can either be really cool and fun to work with or absolute little shits and all of my classes will, no doubt, be full of both. Let's hope the good amount of money I get and the long holiday times will be worth it. Something that should work in my favour is the fact that I'm an immature child myself so connecting with the kids shouldn't be difficult. One of my friends plans on becoming a playwright, another recently applied to work for MI5 and a third is going to be a lazy, unemployed arse. Right now they all seem far less daunting than... *gulp* ...teaching high school

My question to you is: do you enjoy your job? What do you do? Is the pay good? The hours fair? And, if you're a student, what are your career plans for the future?

I bus tables for $2.13 an hour for 35-40 hours of the week. You tell me if I would like that. I at least like my boss and coworkers.

Nope because I'm sadly unemployed. Job rate at my hometown is high and no place is hiring.

So wooo....

I'm working as a QA tester for a prominent MMORPG developer at the moment and have worked in QA for an outsourcing QA company for a fair while now. I've had some jobs in between the two but I figured that if I had to do something while I get my stuff sorted out I might as well be breaking video games all day long.

Currently saving so I can take a Web Programming / Design course i've been accepted to. Also do Massage Therapy on the side.

I don't enjoy unemployment.

I've done lots and lots of different things though. Some of them enjoyable. Others not that much.

My job is pretty awesome. I'm an artist at s game studio, working on a badass AAA game. The working environment is fairly open and lets me be creative, and we're still in the beginning of the project so the hours are decent. I work about 8-10 hours a day, depending on my tasks. Pay is kinda all right, but royalties make up for that.

It's what I always wanted to do, and it's still hard to believe I actually get to do it. :)

Yeah, it'd be safe to say I enjoy my job. I'm a... well... I don't know what the hell my job title is, but I work for two museums owned by the same charity. One is awesome (it's for the RRS Discovery, if anyone's ever heard of that) and the other (an ex-jute mill) wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't so quiet all the time.

Minimum wage, thirty two hours a week, got a half hour or so commute each way... and I like my co-workers, they're a friendly bunch.

My career plans for the future involve instructing canoeing, snowboarding, and a few other things, possibly in New Zealand.

I have had some horrendous jobs in the past, where you wanted to jump the counter and stab people with a pen,but i now work in a library which is perfect for me because i always loved books and telling stories. My work mates are brilliant and my boss is great.Working with kids is good, give them respect and lay down the ground rules early. You do always get one little toe rag in a group though!Wages are ok,keeps me in new a game every month, but if the tories get their way there may be no more libraries left.

Im a teacher - I absolutely love my vocation.

EDIT: for those who want to know exactly how much of a glutton for punishment I am, I add my vocation is at a fully comp British 11-16 inner city school.

Awaiting college, starting in August haven't anything work related to do until then, but I have started training for a triathlon which keeps me occupied most of the day. Good fun it is too.

Not in work atm, but I did work in ASDA and I loved it. Good pay, 6am-1pm shift with two days off in a row meant I could go into work - work, go home, sleep for a bit, get up, get ready and go out and get drunk.
Was perfect really.

I tutor teens, about 15-18 years, who need extra help in math and physics.
It's just an extra job though, couple of hours a week, but I like it.

Eh, the hours suck, but there's no traffic to speak of on the commute and it gives me time to ponder the mysteries of the world. Security on the graveyard shift beats soldiering.

I've seen far too many stories about people getting fired for bitching about their jobs on Facebook or whatever. You never know who is reading what. So, yes. I love my job. Best job ever. Whooo-hooo!!!
