Death is really the only thing I'm afraid of. I don't want to end. I like existing.

In my short time here, i believe that this is the third tie I've directly quoted your posts. but you seem to have a way of putting things that are easy for me to bounce my ideas off of....

Yes. To not fear death is to have no regrets. So far, I have plenty of regrets and such. Too much I need to do before I can feel safe to die.
The way I look at this is that regrets stem from fear or failure, and as regrets are a part of life.... I come to the conclusion that. I do not fear death, I fear life.

Edit: So that is my journey... learning not to fear life so can enjoy it before death.

Do you fear death?
Do you fear that dark abyss?
All your deeds laid bare, all your sins punished?

... nah.

If I'm dead I'm dead, is not like I'm going to miss anything. It would be inconvenient of course, especially since my life has improved considerably.

Yes, but only when I think about it a lot.

Something that is easy to avoid doing.

PS: I saw the thread title, and actually heard it in my head, spoken by Bill Nighy.

"Do you fear death? Do you fear that dark abyss? All your deeds laid bare, all your sins punished?"

Yes. Yes I do.

WHAT THE HELL?!? Just when I think it's safe, you steal my effing words again!

Well, not - not my words, but Bill Nighy's words, but still!

I've answered this question so many times( many on this form even) but I shall answer it again: No. It would be foolish to fear the stopping of my concious existence. The human mind judges things mostly on memory, something is deemed bad immediately after it happens. If I die, I cannot judge the concept of my death because my brain will no longer function. Once you're dead, that's it. So why live in fear? Enjoy, then die.

No I don't fear death. I fear the method of transition from life to death.

No, I came to grips with that years ago. I find irony in people that go through life fearing their inevitable death.

I still hesitate at the point of actual death, but the scientist in me still wants to know if I'm right about this whole Atheism thing.

I have decided that there is nothing past this world.
It all just ends.
And then, in a few generations, everything about you is forgotten.
Even your direct descendants won't remember your name.
Thats why I decided I was going to be someone big.
I'm going to be a president, and I am going to either start or end a big war, or make first contact.
Something big. I want to be remembered thousands of years into the future.
Something big like taking over the world and ruling it with an iron fist?
I guess we'll be competing then...

O.T. No, I don't, I'm waiting for it.

I don't fear death, however I would dislike death. Mainly because if I die then I won't be able to play any of the awesome games that will inevitably be released in the future.
