This is exactly what I'm talking about. The mods can be overzealous and will happily abuse their powers. Have you ever looked at ZP threads? The first several posts are always given probation or suspension, regardless of what they are. Things that are not offensive or make no sense to be considered offensive by The Escapist demographic are given mod attention.

This is abuse of power. And you know what? I'm probably going to be suspended or banned for this post, because I stood up and spoke my mind. And that, my friends at The Escapist, is fascist.

Moron. It's been explained over and over again why they do that.

-The video lasts around 5 minutes.

-People posting comments within the first 4 minutes quite clearly haven't watched the video yet because it's not possible to have seen it all yet.

-They get probation/suspension.

Also look up what Fascism means. This is a privately owned site, they can have whatever rules they want. It's not fascist, it's their business (literally and metaphorically).

If I asked someone to take their shoes off in my home or they can leave it isn't fascism it's the rules of my home (example, I'm not that fussy).

You have my condolences. That looks similar to my first probation. I think mine warranted it more and I think you got shafted. Take that in as many ways as you want given the context of your post, I think Escapist was harsh.

I don't fear the ban hammer. I do respect it, and as such have been passively and actively testing it to see its limits. I might even put that information to good use a time or two, especially when attempting to craft artfully vicious replies. But I've certainly crossed what I thought was the line in an attempt to learn where it was at.

Be afraid of what I've learned MUWHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Maybe not in my hands though, I'm a bit nuts.

EDIT: As for sites where the mods are bastards (unlike Escapist) that's what ban jumping is for. Piracy in all it's forms is so much more fun against vicious targets. The hell with fear.

I came here from a forum where the admin went off the deep end, so I'm a little wary of randomly getting the ax.

But, I make a point of trying to avoid being a complete jackass, and adding at least something coherent to the thread. There's times I'd gleefully post something mildly snide and call it good (and a handful of times when I have), but I really don't want to get kicked off of someplace with a relevantly sane staff.

That gave me a chuckle. Really nice idea, I'm sure some people fell for it. The red isn't red enough though.

I don't fear it because I don't have to. I never insult people and even if I do there is always sarcasm involved so I'm not serious.

Do I check my posts? Yes. Primarily for typos. But sometimes I'll rephrase something that might be too offensive otherwise.
Do I fear the mods? Not really. Haven't been in any trouble yet.

Same here on all accounts. I always re-read what I've written for typos, and I edit it if I realize something sounds rude or inflammatory.

I'm new to this board, but already some of the threads I've seen make it seem like a totalitarian state where users have a tendency to rat each other out for not writing i before e except after c. I don't fear this so-called banhammer, but I despise PC kneejerk reactions on the part of anyone (mods included) to anything that might be construed as ever-so-slightly offensive to people who like wearing double-breasted suits or collecting stamps, as that doesn't foster conversation (or tolerance).
