Do you finish your games?

It just occurred to me that around 70% of my games, I never completed. Even if I know I'm near the end - I could go through a few days of being too busy to play a game, and then I'll forget how much I was enjoying it, and start a new game.

I've now made plans to revisit all my old games to finish them off.

Does anyone else do this? Or do you feel the need to finish a game before moving to a new one?

It really depends on the game. There are some like the Mass Effect series or Enslaved that I wasn't capable of putting down until they are done and others like Bayonetta that I haven't touched in months and can't muster the motivation to finish. I would say that I finish the vast majority of my games, but I tend to be more picky about what I actually buy these days.

I usually finish whatever game I've bought, unless it is insanely hard even on the easiest difficulty (Ninja Gaiden for the X-Box for example) or excruciatingly boring or bad, Vampire Rain for another example. And when I rent a game I'll sometimes return it before I beat it.
Though I will admit that I rarely go for the 100% completion.

It depends. I can play long games like Assassins Creed and Mass Effect, but I wont be able to sit through all the dialouge for Mass Effect to go throgh and get all the side missions, which is why I think I did'nt like the game as much as I did Knights of the Old Republic.

So far I have played a lot of games but have finished none, mostly because when I do get time to play I go on multiplayer, or my younger brothers with no responsibilities finish the games I pay for before I even start them, and ruin them for me.

At least you're trying....

The only game I ever finished was gears on the Ipod, and that was because it was only the lite version.

I almost always finish my games. I left a MW2 Veteran run sitting and I left a Prince of Persia 08 run sitting somewhere near the end. I really should have finished, but I finally got around to finishing my first Mass Effect that I left sitting near Virmire for a year. Then I played Mass Effect 2 and totally forgot about Prince and MW2 until I finished.

I'm terrible for not completing my games. It's usually the games that have a ton of hype that I don't completely finish: Fallout 3, inFamous, Force Unleashed, Red Dead Redemption, Arkham Asylum...

Some times I don't even play for an hour. I don't even think I got a half-hour into RDR before I put it down because I couldn't friggin' control the game.

A while back when I was still in school I would always make sure that I play a game through before buying a new one.
But then I started to use Steam and began buying more games that I could handle. Right now I'm desperately trying to complete GTA IV I bought a few years ago and there're, like, another three dozens unfinished games I have. There're even a few PS2 games I have yet to complete.

I generally try and finish every game I have, although I do have a lot that I haven't. Don't usually tend to go for 100% runs though, unless it's somethign i really love playing

I don't always 100% a game, but I always beat the main story. I do that before I play any multiplayer that the game may have.

It's merely a case of: Am I enjoying this enough to finish it?

If I'm having a good time, then bring on a 12 hr marathon.

If I'm not, I will throw the disk in my 'unfinished bucket' where it will probably remain until I decide to sell it.

Mass Effect 2 is one of the top of my list to revisit, along with Red Dead Redemption, Assassins Creed, GTA4, Final Fantasy XIII, Half Life 2...the list goes on.

I know why I forgot how much I was enjoying ME2 though. I spent 3 days solid exploring the galaxy. When I get back to it, I'm flying through the story!

I try hard, getting frustrated in order to finish my games.
I really try to finish all the games that happen to come to my hands.
The only games I gave up for where games that sucked so much, when I tried to sell them or exchange them with other games nobody wanted them.

I usually complete my games, not to a 100% though, unless it's a really engaging RPG, like ME1, ME2, DA:O or something like GTA:SA. A game has to be too much of a piece of crap for me not to complete it. I only replay games if the story and gameplay are really compelling, that's the case of ME2 and GTA:SA.

I've gotten bad at this. Worst recent example is probably Darksiders. Worst, not because it's a game everybody should have played through and still talks about; worst because I'm so close to the end. I just have to fetch (!) all the sword-shards. But I also want to find all the hidden goodies, and for that I'd need a guide, because I'm an idiot. And I just can't be bothered.

Another really bad example is Call of Pripyat. It's the reverse. I played like 5 minutes of it and plan to play through it sometime, especially because it was a birthday present I wished for, but I just never feel like it. It seems such an intimidating task.

Just Cause 2 for 2 reasons. One, because it's so frikkin huge and it's one of the few games that makes me want to go after the collectibles; two because it melts my graphics card after 2 or 3 hours... yeah...

and Episodes of Liberty City, even though I actually like GTA4.

and The Witcher and Risen. I'm starting to think I don't actually like slow ponderous nearly-aimless complex WRPGs. The last RPG I managed to finish, with great enthusiasm and interest, was Final Fantasy 6. Then I started 9 and haven't touched it in 5 days.

I only finish my games if they are worth finishing, but since I am really picky about what games I buy, I guess I finish them most of the time.

I only finish the games I don't like, and I'm aware enough of my preferences that I don't play many games I don't like.

I'd say I finish 90% of the games I start. Beyond that, I finish a game I start before starting a different one.

I complete the vast majority of my games, the only ones that spring to mind where I haven't are the Rockstar Games. Don't get me wrong, they are good games, they just don't hold me for long enough to complete and then I'm put off starting again because of their 6 hour tutorials.
