No, but I get annoyed if he's trashing it for inaccurate (or even contradictory) reasons because there will be people who believe him.

Of course not.

I watch hes reviews for a good laugh and thats what i get. Even if it is a game i happen to enjoy alot and he usually makes pretty valid points which leaves me thinking. "hmm yeah that mechanic is quite annoying or could of been done better"

They are supposed to be funny reviews. Do you get mad if a comic trashes something you like? Or your race? Same thing.

It seems like the people who do get annoyed if Yahtzee trashes a game they like are a minority. I generally don't get upset because I haven't played half the things he speaks about, and the few things I do like are things that he mentions favorably himself.

Only once did I get annoyed with him.

It was his Demon's Souls review, when he talked about the dodge button not dodging -_-'

Not really, there aren't many games that I like that he reviews. Actually ZP is usually the final word I get before I buy a game. I do like Nintendo, but I agree that the re-releasing thing they're doing like with Ocarina of Time and the New Super Mario games (past the first one) is kinda a waste, I mean they already have the Virtual Console to show the games to a new audience.

The only one that really upset me was Sonic Unleashed, but playing it myself upset me even more that that...

I get upset with Yahtzee when it seems like he doesn't understand or can't place the creative thesis of a game. For example what DA2 tried to do in terms of its world building and storytelling.

That it (generously) only barely succeeded in its presumed endeavors and is a disappointing grab to fund DA3 and deserved his lukewarm reception is incidental to the whole thing.

Basically, I'm upset whenever I get a thought that I might be a better reviewer than he. Which is damning basically because I'm absent anything that resembles either clarity or creativity and sometimes I am even honest with myself about these glaring faults.

I stole the phrase "creative thesis" from the penny-arcade guys. Seriously.

No, I watch him for the criticism, he trashes nearly every game and that's why you come to watch him, to realize the bad aspects of the game.

I find him entertaining actually, even if he does hate on a game that I happen to love. Sure, sometimes I agree with him and sometimes I don't, but I never take anything personally or get upset with him over his opinion of a game.

I EXPECT him to trash the games I like, I know they're flawed, I just love watching him come up with a million different ways to call a game shit. It is entertaining.

In general, no, his reviews make me laugh and I don't care. The only thing that has frustrated me is when he's not funny and hates the game because he simply doesn't get it. It's also more noticeable in his Extra Punctuation articles. When he reviews RPGs mostly, simply because he hates all RPGs. It's like eating tomatoes when you don't like them over and over and telling people it's a bad tomato.

Nope, it's just his perspective, but I always like to hear it though.
Seconded.

On topic, though, I like hearing whatever Yahtzee has to say about a game that I like or a game that I don't, because it's always presented in a funny, enjoyable manner, even if it is really harsh.

Well, me and Yahtzee seem to think what is a good game for X reason, so any game he says is ok, I've already or probably have gone out to try it, and more then likely liked it, hes the reason I got Saints Row 2, also Amnesia: The Dark Decent. The only games I know of that he reviewed and didn't like was TF2, and Borderlands, but those are something epic.
So no, I don't think him saying something is bad will deteraite me from getting the game if I'm interested enough into it.

I actually get unhappy when he doesn't thrash a game I like enough.

Ex: Mk9, though he made 3 awesome jokes about it, there was too much reuse of the same things that have been said about mk from the start.
Then again this proves his point about how little mk9 changed since the first and how outdated it is, but let's just say I wasn't laughing out loud as say..when he reviewed Jericho, Dragon Age, Mass Effect, SSB, Prototype, Demons souls, Sim city societes (oh god did that one make me laugh, though granted im cheating here as i didnt actually like the game, but yahtzee did a great job of showing its most retarded aspects) to name but a few.

If I have no emotional conection to a game he demolishes, I feel like im losing some of the experience.

No, because usually he's right and the flaws he points out don't necessarily stop me from enjoying a game. Take Dragon Age 2 for instance, I agreed with everything he said about how rushed and annoying and blahdebloo most of the game is, but that doesn't mean I'm not going to go in for my fourth playthrough because I like the game despite the bleh. *shrug* Besides, even if he absolutely hates and trashes my favorite game EVAR... Why should that bother me? He'll at least be funny doing it, right?

Not really. If I like a game and he rails on it, whatever. He obviously can't like everything I like. I for one LOVED Borderlands.

The ONLY time I was ever upset was when he went "Yeah, I was gonna review Sonic Colors today, and while it started with some immediate and kinda promising gameplay, the first cutscene was back to stupid shit again, so !@#$ that game, I'll review iPhone games instead."

THAT upset me because he gave up on the game at the FIRST. FREAKIN. CUTSCENE. Which granted is a bit of a lame/cheesy cutscene, and a tiny bit too long, but really? He played Kayne and Lynch 2 longer than that!

......Ok, fine, so maybe it's also the Sonic Fanboy in me that's also upset that he didn't give what I consider one of the best Sonic games ever a chance at all. And....it's also strangely aggravating that he didn't even consider the game WORTH tearing apart. XD
