Do you get upset if Yahtzee trashes a game you like?

not really, though when he does sort of rip on a story of a game (example "halo") when it has more backstory and a more expanded universe than he gives it credit for or looked into for...it's a little irritating...but nothing that really annoys me to where i really care in the grand scheme of things. He's still one of the best video game reviewers out there.

No, I don't get upset if he dislikes something that I like, because my opinion is my opinion, and his opinion is his. Also, he makes perfectly valid points.

Let's see all the games I like Yahtzee has trashed: The World Ends With You,Heavy Rain,Smash Bros Brawl,Demon's Souls, etc. NOPE! Don't care a bit. It's an opinion and anyone who looks to opinions for whether or not a game is good don't really trust themselves to rent it.

Nope...partially because i hate almost every game that has come out in the last year...almost...there were a few good ones.....also its his opinion and you can't get angry at someone for saying how they feel about something

I sometimes get a little pissed when he says something like "this game sucks, and by extension anyone who likes this game sucks." It's stupid, because I know he's not trying to offend me personally, it's something I wouldn't mind were it said by someone I actually know, and it wouldn't bother me were it said on TV. I think the problem is that, unlike TV, on the internet I get to hear from the few hundred people who agree with him that "yes, those people (me) really do suck." Still, that's what I get in putting literally any stock in the opinions of internet people.

I'm resigned to having a different taste from most reviewers... especially Yahtzee. In general, he hates difficult games.

this reminds me of the witcher reveiw...I mean was it me or some people were actually unhappy yahtzee didnt like it? I mean it seems like a no-brainer since he doesnt like the first one

and what doesnt it matter anyway? I mean nagativity is pretty much his "thing"

I do however avoid his reveiws on a game that I am going to get or have yet to finish, because I dont want me veiw tainted...plus he gives away plot details alot
my issue with the first witcher review was that he barely scratched the surface of the game before writing it off as bad. but if he actually plays a game and calls it shit, that doesnt bother me. i recognize that most of his complaints are exaggerated because its funnier that way. as a metal gear solid fanboy i probably would have killed myself if i took his reviews personally.

i agree though, if a game is heavy story based, i usually wont watch his reviews until after i finished the game because he tends to give away spoilers

Just joining the chorus. He is usually spot on in the things he picks and he acknowledges when he is only harping on the negatives because, well, thats what people expect. Behind the schtick is one of the more entertaining and interesting commentators on the world of gaming.

along with all the haters.

I don't watch Yatzhee for his opinions, I watch his "reviews" for their humor. Often the games' problems are far, far too exaggerated to be an accurate review.
This entirely.
In fact, watching his reviews of games I've never played still doesn't exactly turn me off from wanting to play them if he gives it a bad review.
But also, I mostly actually agree with his critique(Though still enjoy the game). "Haha he has a point. That part is a lot like that."

Honestly no.

He doesn't really review games I play(except for Portal 2) that much because I play mainly JRPG's, and it's no secert that he hates them with a passion. He does annoy me a little bit by telling the plot of some games I wanted to play. But even though he ruined the plot of Tom Clancy's Hawx for me, I still lol every episode.

Only a little. Then I remember that critics are generally paid to either be comedians or mysanthropic bastards, and Yahtzee is both, in a nice Australian way.

No.

For example, he didn't like Uncharted 2 very much, but that's just his taste. Not everyone likes the same kind of games, and he does point out some flaws in games I like. As much as I like Uncharted 2, Nathan Drake is not a very well developed character. I find him likeable enough, but he's kind of a shallow action hero - a casual Indiana Jones if you will.

He didn't like the First Mass Effect very much. I, personally, loved the game to bits, but that's just his taste. He found the inventory system far more of a pain to deal with than I did.

I also dislike games he has liked. I found inFamous to be.... decent but it got boring towards the end and the story was rubbish. He liked painkiller, and I thought that game was terrible. I also disliked No More Heroes, the only game I ever bought on his recommendation.

So it goes both ways, I like some games he dislikes, and I dislike some games he likes. That's normal, BECAUSE WE'RE TWO DIFFERENT PEOPLE. We are not going to like the same things!

Not really, I disagree with him on occasion but I'm usually laughing too hard to really care. Not to mention his points are generally pretty good, so I don't often have much to argue with.

when he was awarding, like, "...the game that most disgraced its legacy..." and said Halo Reach, i was all WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU YOU DIPSH*T!?!?!? but then he was all "psych! Kayne & Lynch II" and im all "AH GOOD YOU JUST DODGED A BULLET DUDE!!!!!!!!"

beyond that, not really. i understand the imperfections in games. because theyre made by people...who are imperfect.

Not really. He's usually got a good take on things but we look at games differently a lot of the time so I don't think there's any reason I would get upset over a matter of opinion.
