Are you a massive nerd who loves sports? Are you a 12 year old on PSN who isn't a total dickface? Are you a really intelligent jock?

I know I'm not being very clear with this, so let me try word it differently...
What kind of stuff are people surprised to find out about you because the rest of the you would suggest you're the total opposite?

People are amazed to learn that I like rap music. I play games, do sport read, study.... and for some reason people don't associate those things with rap music. :p

[sub]I know rap isn't popular on here, no need to tell me[/sub]

People are usually surprised to learn that I know what Warhammer is - and more to the point, that I used to play and paint a Dark Elf army. c:

Those with preconceived misconceptions about people who tend to favour wearing darker colours are often usually taken aback when they learn that I have a fear of blood and gore.

That I prefer 40's-50's music to anything modern. The people who are surprised tend to be those who haven't played Fallout 3/New Vegas. They sometimes laugh or look at me strangely, either way I'm not so happy when they do.

Also, I tend to only use every second step when using stairs.

Not really... the more I am on these forums the more it looks like I'm pretty boring and average. Um lets see...

My wife once said that she couldn't believe someone so dorky could be so attractive.

Nani?! Loud and shy? How's that work?

OT:
People assume that I'm white when they voice chat/telephone me for the first time and I haven't mentioned that I'm Asian. I don't know why but they get all surprised about it.
Well... it's like... er...

Alright so, say I'm introduced to some new people and I'll thrust my hand forward and be all "I'm Berty and Goddamn it is good to meet you!" and be all bombastic and junk. Then again if someone were to ask me what my favourite band was I might freeze up like a rabbit in the headlights as my music knowledge is pathetically shallow.

So yeah, I guess it's a control thing. That sounds pretty bad but really its just a comfort thing rather than me shouting at you to put the lotion on your skin.

Edit: Who's Nani?

I'm rather good at school, I hang out on the internet all day, I love anime, and I collect knives and swords.

I'm not sure I could be more stereotypical.

I used to be loud and shy, it was a matter of just going "fuck it" being loud and acting confident when really I wasn't. Worked pretty well actually. Girls used to like me because I was confident, which was good because when it came to looks I was the epitome of "awkward teenage years". Eventually the confidence stopped being feigned confidence.

Personally, eh people get surprised that I'm not gay. I dress a bit... differently. Skin tight jeans, boots with heels, scarves, necklaces, bracelets and rings.
Eddie Izzard dresses in a traditionally camp manner and he is knee deep in punani, so I can believe it.

I dunno if its feigned confidence per se. I mean, it all comes out pretty naturally and then the person/people I'm talking too get excited and I get excited and we all have a great time. I'd say it was like a shared experience rather than a straight up performance.

Is collecting swords considered stereotypical of smart internet users? o_O

I bake deserts and I shoot a bows and guns. I also hate to wear dresses and skirt but I don't think it really counts.

i don't give anyone any reason to expect anything from me in the first place, therefor it's impossible for me to defy these expectations. my physical identity is specificaly designed to maximize inconspicuity.. (is that a word? if it's not, what real word means the same thing? o_O)

Apart from being a giant metalhead who loves gaming more than anything, I also suffer from social phobia since the past couple of years. However, if someone stands in my way when I'm about to exit the subway I go berserker and start picking a fight.

I like cute things o_O Yeah, a girl who likes cute things is a real shocker right? At least it was to my friends since they though I was way to boyish.

Apparently my love of maths and logical thinking contradicts my character. According to my friends I give the strong impression of being a star-eyed idealistic dreamer who sees the world through rose-tinted glasses. I'm actually pretty cynical and rarely act on instinct.

I don't see why anyone would get the impression of me being a dreamer, but, hey, I guess that's what I'm seen as.
