Do You Have Constant Reload Syndrome?

Yeah I do, I'm a chronic reloader! Something I hate though is when games don't let you stop reloading to fire at an enemy. For example, in the middle of a fight I could reload after killing some people, but didn't see someone else who was there, who then fills me full of lead while I desperately rush for cover and my character keeps doing their painfully slow reloading animation. I should be able to press fire to quickly cut out of the animation and fire the remaining bullets in my last clip... yeah that wouldn't be realistic, but the alternative is frustrating and pisses me off to no end.

It killed me on Ghost Recon to do it...which is the first game I actually just learned to keep track of my ammo on (since clips didn't magically optimize themselves...if you fired 10 bullets out of a 30 round clip, you'd eventually reload and only have 20 bullets).

Well, yeah, I just have bleepin bad luck. I reload when my gun is pretty low, which is after an encounter(with a single or group of players), and I could have ran ALL the way around the world to make sure NO one was near, I hit the reload button, BAM! Satan himself teleports in front of me and kills me. I swear, people have a RoyMakio-Reloading-Radar. My friend even finds it funny.

At one point, he was giving me sniper cover as I was charging up the middle to get to a M-Com site in BC2. I was pretty much out in the open blowing them away with my Xem Proto. Then, I decided to reload after I took some cover and let my friend know. As I crouched, waited for him to say coast was clear, I THEn reloaded, and then out of no where, a bloody guy comes and shoots my face off. My friend couldn't even see him till he was already on me. He had full view as well. As I said, WORST LUCK EVER!

Hell ya I have constant reload syndrome, sometimes I'll still be in the middle of shooting at enemies and stop to reload. Nothing like reloading after every kill you get in a giant ongoing firefight.... still I think its actually saved my life hundreds of times and hasn't gotten me killed much.

Yep.

Even when its a machinegun that has >100 ammo, i use like 10-20 for a kill, and reload straight after >.<

Online, I used to reload after every kill, reguardless of ammo used, or clip capacity. I had to learn the hard way to chooooose when to reload. I found all to often that I'd die mid reload from a foe I didn't see. So I'd get a kill, wait and listen for more baddies, get cover, then reload. Not to say I don't still fall into bad habits, but I try not to.

My thoughts are would you rather be reloading at the start of an encounter, or during the encounter? In the end it's always nice to have a full clip.

I reload when there is cover, as I used to reload immediately after a kill all the time when I was younger, even when I was facing multiple foes.

This strategy seems to work for me.

I reload after every shot in tf2 since I play soldier and its needed. Its bad though because its almost gotten my friends killed while playing L4D2 since I'll be in the middle of reload and thats when they decided to get hunter pounced.

Oh yes. If I had a dollar for every time I reloaded my weapon only to have some other twat run around the corner and shoot me in the ass, I'd be playing on a XBOX 360 console made out of 24k gold.

Seriously, I've done math.
Wait, you didn't check to see the coast was clear?

You just.. Reloaded? Right there? RIGHT after the confrontation?

Silly...
:p

I normally duck into a vacant area to do it. Much less likely to catch a 9mm treat to the 10-spot.
Thats what I do, going into cover to reload and then once somone called me a camper for doing that after he killed me. If he was me, he'd know.

I reload whenever my clip is uneven or when I kill something. When I started playing Team Fortress 2 I liked to play as the Sniper, but he has a bolt action sniper rifle with no clips and his unlock is a bow!

So I find myself tapping "R" over and over again on my keyboard, when in-game, I've died and gotten teabagged...

Not a very good syndrome.

I reload compulsively, even if i've only shot one bullet. I can't wait to try the reload techique in MW2 mentioned by Xero Scythe.

I had CRS until I started playing Modern Warfare 2 and starting using SMGs. With assault rifles in that game, you can usually afford to reload after every kill since you engage most people at long range but with SMGs like the mp5k or the UMP45, you're pretty much always in mid to close combat. I thus learned how to reload only when I absolutely need to since there are times when I'll be taking on groups of 3-4 people and a single reload would mean death.

Not reloading all the time is also great if you use LMGs a lot.

I've also learned the beauty of a quick swap to double USPs when you run out of ammo. I cannot tell you how many times that has saved my life in the past, so much so that I have over 1000+ kills with the USP alone.
