I kid, I kid. This thread is about how much information you willingly give out online. Do you not care about letting people know your age and state you live in, but will hush right up when it comes to names and people you know? The picture thread managed to break most people in letting us take a glimps of them, but was it all a lie? Do you often lie on thenet about yourself to hide your identity or tell the truth (but maybe not all of it).

Myself, I wouldn't give any real details of friends over the net. But then I wouldn't tell someone my name, unless I was comfortable with them. I wouldn't give out my last name unless I felt I knew them and I wouldn't discusss intimate details of myself unless I really really knew and cared for these people. So far I only know one that's managed to jump all those hoops (man you guys need to get you shiz together!). I think I don't care discussing my age or that fact I'm a Queenslander, because that barely narrows it down to nothing. Also, I felt a tad awkward handing out free picys of myself but felt confident no one really cared.

I'm a 15-year-old who lives in Sydney. That's all the info you're getting from me.

Anonymity is a necessity on the internet.

I will give age, country, vague description and threats. Nothing else. EVER.

I'm sorry but people I meet online are people I meet online, self explanatory.

Edit: More: No Myspace etc either. I don't trust anyone, least of all people I encounter daily. Conniving bastards the lot of them.

The most I ever tell is the rough area I live in, my full name, email and in the instance of the "Pics Plz" thread, my image.

Hmmm... maybe I should start being more careful. I did cut down my full name to just Chris back in March, but anyone that wanted me dead (or tied up in a cellar) could probably find away around not knowing my last name.

I'm going to end up killed aren't I?

I have to admit, net safety is never anything I've particularly cared about. My personal website has my picture, my phone number, my name, and what I do on a day-to-day basis on it. I have no problem revealing any details about myself online - but would never, ever give away details of my friends, that's just wrong. Names, I don't really have a problem with, but nothing else.

I've never had anything bad happen to me because of it, and I don't see what could happen, really...

a/s/l?

:D I don't care about disclosing age, home country and/or city and have been known to post pictures of myself. I guess I just have some amount of trust regarding the internet, wont give my name though.

only one place (aside from my old wow subscription) have I said the city I live in, maybe 2 places I actually use my real birth date and my real name...geez maybe once

I'm not worried about people using the info against me in any way, I guess i'm kinda shy and unless there's a real need for it, I probably wouldn't tell you too much irl either unless the topic comes up.

There's plenty of info out there from various posts i've made on the net showing my opinions and interests and to an extent my personality, just not much that's raw details of how I live.

So do most of you not have a facebook/myspace/whatever account? Seems to me that's still the internet, but people are much happier giving out a lot on information there.

In due time, my sweet.

I put in name, age, country and general description of my vices. Sounds reasonable, no?

nope, not my cup of tea. Maybe I would've a couple of years ago, but I'm no longer interested in that kind of stuff.

I Mostly go by my alias of Kenny, but not much digging can find my name extremely quickly. I will also freely give away that I am a 15 year old Londoner. But that really doesn't lower anything down.

I don't care really. I figure that the likelihood of my being seduced and used for sex by some paedophile is low, and beyond that, eh. I've met people off the net, I've even formed close relationships with them.

Oh, and potential stalkers, feel free to sift through my various details. I can also be found in Wollongong most days of the week. Enjoy.

My name is Piers Andrews, I live in Sheffield, England but will be moving to Durham, England in September 2009 to attend University.

In short, I'm not really fussed about it. Giving out my precise address would probably be one step too far, but the above information is something I freely share.

Sadly, I have to agree and say with most people online I am not to open, However I have met people online in real life many times. The difference I think is what you use the internet for on a overall basis,People with disabilities have it harder to a point to meet others in your state or state wide area with similar disabilities, So its nice to have the internet to get into a community and meet others like you. Where in your local area you may be the only one with the disability.
