Just because someone who knows what they are doing can find out who you are and where you live doesn't mean you should tell everybody. Just like a pin tumbler lock; professionals or talented NDEs (non-destructive entry) can have them open in scant seconds and yet it doesn't stop you locking your door does it? Its because, even if the lock doesn't protect against those who are really determined or knowledgable, the lock keeps out everybody else!

I'm 20 years old. I live in Dallas Texas in a small apartment. I could easily kick someone's ass. When I turn 21, I'm getting a gun license... uh.


Honest, I've met a ton of people from the internet. Some nice and some very... very strange. But I'm also in the Competive/Pro circuit of gaming and in the media, so reguardless I end up meeting people I know online. I've even gone as far as to drive to Chicago (17 hours) to meet a friend.

To me, it's not that big a deal. But then again I carry around a knife with me at all times, so who knows. I honestly don't see it as being much of a big deal anymore.

Meh, like I said before - it can get creepy at times, but lately It hasn't been much of an issue. Most of my friends are cops, security guards, bartenders, bouncers, or 7ft hackers. They're kinda my security blanket.

Though, I'm sure if one of you fucks came knocking on my door - I'd be a bit weirded out.

Reguardless, I think once your on the internet it's hard to not give out too many details, because the smallest things, though oblivious to some people can help pinpoint things for others.

For example, the reason I guess Marley goes to UNT is because on a MUSE forum she posts on, she mentioned how she is a POLI SCIENCE major, switched over from Theatre, and that she was attending a concert in Grand Prairie. Being a resident of DFW - those things all clicked and UNT was the first thing to pop in my head.

but yeah, if you guys are incredibly paranoid about this sort of thing, I wont mind deleting the posts.

Wow. Very close. Not correct, but I was in Denton a week ago for a concert. Anyway, wow. That... actually kind of freaked me out. It's okay, but wow. Good guess, though.

edit2: Also, it might be because I play MMOs a lot and hence encounter many people all the time, but I've found quite a handful of people that I now know fairly closely and can feel free to confide in and vice versa. All the way up to webcams and so on.

Yeah, same.. well kinda. You search my name and you would find wither my parents, granmother's or Aunt's house here in Dallas. Or my Cousin in Boston.

So there an incredibly good chance of someone finding me. But I am so open with all my friends and I'm not that attractive so someone stalking me down probably isn't going to be too likely. But I also constantly look for RL friends on the internet, so that may be another reason why I'm not very bothered by it.

However, if someone were to approach me, I could defend myself. I actually think this is something all women, and pretty much anyone in general should learn to do.
