I used to have a Giant Schnauzer that loved sleeping on my feet... and when he wanted breakfast in the morning or to go out he'd jump on my chest, you can imagine how lovely that was when he reached full size.

The last time I slept with a person though I was up at the cabin and woke up under the bed, still don't know how that happened.

Oh and we fall asleep back to back too. It would probably be face to face but like most couples we hav "sides" of the bed and we sleep on opposite sides of our body. If we were to swap bed-sides we'd be face to face.
I always found that sleeping back to back was much more comfortable. It doesn't take away from the closeness, although sometimes I worry that the person I'm with thinks that they've done something wrong. It's never that, I just like to sleep facing away - regardless of the size of the bed.
My boyfriend and I usually cuddle for a while, then we go to sleep back to back. It is more comfortable for us to both sleep facing the sides of the bed. During the middle of the night, anything happens. It's only to get to sleep.

An ex of mine and I used to have a position that is impossible to describe, where we'd be able to fall asleep cuddling. But I like my space, however much I like waking up next to someone, I also far more enjoy a good night's sleep without waking up with stabbing backache ;]

My boyfriend's body gets very hot under the blankets, so I generally prefer my space. Unless of course, I am half asleep and can't be bothered doing anything about it :)

One of my dogs sleep in my bed. Every night, has done it since the very first day we bought her.

It's not quite a girlfriend, but at least it's warming my feet.
Same here but mine will run away if you move an inch. Plus then she'll bark waking everyone in the house.

I also read a study one time that said that men feel stupid-er after getting out of bed with a woman.
Hows that robin williams quote go: "God gave me two brains and only enough blood to run one at a time" (I think that's the quote, and I think that was Robin Williams). I guess I'm just an exception.

I enjoy it, as I can feel a bet restless during the night and tend to feel lonely. Having someone right there is nice.

But sometimes... the insomnia kicks in and I can't get to sleep... but she already has. So either I get up and walk around a bit and risk waking her up, or get no sleep. That's a bit of a bother.

The only people I've shared a bed with is family, and it's quite unpleasant because I'm used to having all this space to myself, and I move a lot in my sleep. That, and it seems I kick, so I never sleep next to my dad...

So does anyone actually like sharing their bed or is it just me and my selfish ways?
Just you. Yep, just you. Selfish ass. No, seriously, I can only sleep with someone I trust and/or love. I'm a rather special case of an insomniac.. and a feeling of security is the only thing that can temporarily cure it. The best moments with my girl are sleeping in bed.. and some other things, naturally. I'm like made for it.. one of the absolutely best things there are.

I must admit that I have never shared my bed before with anyone. I don't think the person in question would like it, though. I move a lot.

No, wait. I did once shared a bed with someone: my best friend, while we were on vacation. We accidentally packed a inflatable mattress for two persons. And no, he didn't like it, and neither did I. Every time either one of us turned or moved, the other one was flung a few feet into the air.

I'm quite similar to you. I wouldn't say I'm an insomniac, to the point that I don't sleep at all.. I do get a few hours a night, just at 4am rather than a normal sleeping time. The only times I manage to really sleep properly are when I'm with someone I'm comfortable and secure with. It's been a while since I've had a good nights sleep, and I'm starting to get quite annoyed to be honest ;]

It is good to hear I am not alone, and equally good to hear you do not suffer from it as severely as I do, sweetie. Most probably, you suffer from delayed sleep-phase syndrome (DSPS), something my generation has broken the records in displaying, and the new one probably will brake anew. Maybe I should start a club or just a collective. Nah, moving in to live with someone to kill the solitude would probably be best.

Yeah, I'm moving out soon and I'm hoping the person/people I move in with at least have a have someone to speak to at 3am while everyone else is asleep to be honest, as I usually just find myself watching programs that I'm not really interested in, or playing games with people who have equally strange sleep patterns ;]

I have a 120 pound English Mastiff that sleeps with me on my twin bed. It actually isn't that bad because she can somehow make herself really small.

I used to find it hard, but now, after ~2 years of sharing a bed with my girlfriend, I find it much harder to sleep on my own... I guess it's what you're used to...

How big a bed are we talking here? I have shared singles, doubles, and queens. I find my personal taste to be double; just enough space to be able to sleep two comfortably for cuddling, but also provides enough space to be away from each other if its say.. too hot or something. But I have a friend who swears to singles, she thinks they are gods gift to cuddling. Each to their own I guess.

Use to have a cat that slept on my bed too, he was great until he woke up and started pounding your face with his paws.

And my first and last dog would sleep at the foot of my bed from time to time, he was awesome too. But unlike the cat he would never wake me up.

Never shared a bed with anyone other than my cat, though I think when I find a girl I want to marry that will be an interesting experience, and one I am rather looking forward to.

I do agree that cats seem to bend the laws of physics with the amount of space they can take up. A friend of mines cat managed to boot him out of a queen size bed over the course of a night. My cat just likes to strech out and take up a massive portion of the bed when she deigns to sleep with me. Its nice in the winter though. She is a giant hot water bottle.
