It's just a FLAG. Stop paying so much meaningless attention to it.
Its called symbolism. The flag's of countries are given meaning through the people who respect it, and the country that holds it. Just because you don't respect it (Something that's entirely your right), doesn't automatically mean its nothing. It's just nothing to you.

I'm in the Army. I salute the flag twice a day; Christ, I wear it five times a week. I do indeed respect my country's flag.
Then you are a deluded fool.
Wow, little harsh, even for a troll.EDIT:sorry, quoted before your edit.

I believe that the Canadian flag promote two very wrong stereotypes (all Canadians smoke pot, and all Canadians like maple syrup) but its our flag, and if your not gonna respect your own flag than get the fuck out of your country.
GO CANADA!!!!!!
You....you took the words right outta my mouth.
Though, the only Canadians with the weed stereotype are in B.C.

Patriotism, in most cases, is just believing that your country is better because you were born there. I mean, there are people you love their country because it is democratic, or represents their religion or whatever, but most of them just love it because they're from there, which is stupid.

A Troll is someone who just insults people just for the sake of it.
I am not a Troll because I state my opinions and stand by them until proven wrong or see the error in my ways.

In terms of respecting the flag and rooting for the army, both of these two goes hand in hand and therefore are moronic.
I think that the whole Patrionism/Nationalism sense is the art of brainwashing kids into believing: "We have it better here".

And I seriously hate Patrionists, especially those who are the deluded who really are racists when all comes around.
While I disagree with much of what you say, you are definitely not a troll. I just mistook you for one because of the BLATANT INSULT you put down, without any reason I could see to back it up. hurr durr.

I don't own, want or like the australian flag, mostly because it just denotes that we're still the property of the british. If it didn't have the union jack in the corner and had instead say, the aboriginal flag, then I'd be a bit more happy with it

I recently had to join the german army, and now they are propably reading my posts. They even admitted it!
Every statement will be used against me, so I won't take a clear stance towards this topic.

o_O?

Personally I don't get the idea of patriotism. Why should I adore such an abstract institution? Yet I am thankful that I was offered some kind of education by the German state. Don't care bout the flag though.

I love my countries flag. It's right up there in my top 5 most beautiful flags ^_^

But we can't really hang the Union Jack on our houses in England, believe it or not, the local councils actually order you to remove them because they could cause offence to people who are not British. It's happened a few times.

I have an Irish flag and i respect its values though id respect the all ireland flag(the pure green one with the golden harp on it) more.

I hate the union jack mainly because its shoved in my face every year and is more a symbol of two fingers to nationalists than to any allegiance to the queen or country and the fact im Nationalist.

It's not the community, it's the Government. We are also actively encouraged not to use Christmas, instead using Holiday Season as it may offend people who don't believe in Jesus.

We are not supposed to say Halloween now either, as it offends the god squad. (Catholics).

Politically correct Britain strikes again.
