Do you start a new game on easy and then change or start on normal?

I tend to start it on Easy, then change it to Normal, yeah. Then again, most games that I play tend to be things where there's a good story element. So...I'd like to play the game for the story, which means I don't want to be frustrated with annoying gameplay due to difficulty.

I always start on the easiest setting. I'm here to have fun not replay the same thing over and over.

That being said I have worked my for playing on very easy (and getting my ass handed to me by a basic baddy) to very hard (and making the weakest character I can, then boss hunting).

I start on hard mode in an attempt to get more hours out of a game, especially stealth games. I think I got a fair few more hours by playing Splinter Cell Conviction on hard.

However for fighting games I have to start on normal or else I won't get anywhere with the game.

I typically start on normal and change down if I'm getting my ass kicked. I never change up to hard mid-game, I usually save that for a second playthrough.

I will start on easy or normal then play through it again on a harder setting if it was good

Usually i start on Hard, or Very Hard settings. If i really cant beat certain encounter despite hours of trying i will consider dropping down a notch. The easy settings i only use for fooling around or checking things out in sandbox/skirmish environment just to get the feel of units/weapons.

I always play at normal. except when ther is a "Realism" option, I love that mode. you die from one bullet and the enemy dies from one bullet.

I generally start on normal and stick with that, particularly for the first playthrough. Playing on the easiest mode makes me feel like a retard.

I always start on the second hardest difficulty (often times normal) and if I find myself getting frustrated beyond the point of entertainment then I lower it. But normally I play through the pain.

I usually start at normal and then work my way up, but it depends on the type of game. I am forced to admit that fps, for instance, is a genre that i just suck terribly at. Call of Juarez:Bound in Blood, forced me to start over on easy after a few hours of play. But i'll get better. You just watch me.

I grab the hardest difficulty. I'm no wuss. Well... except for games like "I wanna be the guy" and Thief... Those are nuts.

I tend to play "normal" difficulty.

I find I don't generally enjoy insanity (ME 2 and the stupid YMIR bots for example) but normal is just challenging enough to make me feel like I have accomplished something, but just easy enough that I don't want to do a controller spike every three seconds.

I either play 1st lvl or bit on easy so I get the controls then swap out to normal and restart or just go straight into normal depending on what game it is. Then I ramp up the difficulty once ive beaten it

Depends on the game. Usually I start normal and adjust the difficulty if I'm not having fun (too easy or too hard). Some genres of which I know I suck at I start on easy.

I generally start on Normal. I did start DA: Origins on easy though, because I knew there was no way I was going to get my head around those tactical menus.
