always play it on atleast normal on the first playthrough, unless im familar with the series, then ill do the second hardest or hardest(if i feel cocky). My 10yr old brother and my best friend both play on easy just to get through the campaign....

I always start on the hardest difficulty, so when I completely suck, I have something to work for, and then I feel really awesome when I can breeze through it on whatever difficulty I want.

Depends on the type of game to be honest. FPS is the only type of game that I will start off on the hardest difficulty. Most of the time I start out on Normal/Hard.

I usually start on hard then tone it down to normal if I start to get frustrated.

Depends on the game. Most of the time, I start on the hardest (I hate games that lock harder difficulty levels until you do it on easy). But for some games, I'll start on medium- usually RTS games.

I usually play on normal, unless it's an unfamiliar kind of game to me (such as dual-analog controlled console fps) in which case I choose easy. Fallout 3 I played on very hard, and it was just right for me, felt like medium to me.

I hardly ever play on anything other than easy which it seems is weird. I like it on easy because I don't enjoy a challenge, so i'm not very competitive.

I always like to start on Hard as I have been playing games for nearly 22 years and consider myself quite good.

There are some exceptions...street fighter 4 for instance. No way could i ever do that on hard!

On the first playthrough I always try normal, if the game feels to easy, I usually restart the game on hard

Depends on the genre and individual game. I mean, I started out Painkiller just now on Hard (Nightmare) and I find it to be quite easy already. I do that with most shooters, start it on the hardest difficulty possible. I'm naturally good at them, both on console and PC.

RPG's however are a lot harder to judge. Dragon Age: Origins on Normal is a real pain in the balls, but I breezed through Fable without much trouble.

I try it on the hardest difficulty available first, and, if it's a 'horror' game, play it again at 11pm with the lights out. For shooting games, I always try to finish the game with only the pistol or submachinegun, and for RPGS, use only offensive spells/melee attacks. Fun times.

I always start on normal. If I'd ever play it again after finishing it, which I rarely do, I would probably play it on hard.

No.

I play on normal as standard; if it's a game I'm familiar/comfortable with, or it's my second play-through, I play it on hard.

I start on easy and keep it that way...

'cause lets face it, Batman and Solid Snake would have no problems doing anything...Anything!

...Except Batman not getting killed by Darkseid and Solid Snake not being old anymore...

I always start on normal because that's the difficulty that the most play testing and balancing goes into. Only if I have problems with that do I go to an easier level and they have to be big problems.

Also, I don't think I've ever reeplayed a game just to play it on a highewr difficulty either. Though, I plan on playing Mass effect 2 on insanity but I'm replaying for the game not for the difficulty. I just figure as long as I'm at it I may as well get 100% of the achievements and check out the callenge.

I try to start on normal. The only games I see worth playing on higher difficulties are Bioshock 1/2 and ME2.

I always play on easy.

Very few games(e.g. Arkham Asylum) have had me move up, because I just don't find challenges fun.
