I don't mean as in believe in the war they are fighting, What i mean is do you wish them well being over there and a safe return. I know alot of people on the escapist are against the war in Iraq & Afghanistan, but You can't blame the soldiers for that for they're only doing their job.

What made me think about this was i just heard the xfactor finalists song Hero. Which got me thinking about the boys over there and how much shit they must be going through day in day out. Also the pictures in the video sorta brought a tear to my eye seeing all the soldiers reunited with their wife and kids just filled me up with a sense of happyness.

So yeah, Do you support the troops over there?

Yes I really do think the troops are good and by and large have good intentions. As you said it is the commanders and even more importantly politicians who starts the wars I have a problem with. Also arms companies and all that too, I can't remember where I heard it but someone said "in war the only groups that don't profit are the people killing each other".

Who wouldn't support the troops? Whether you support any war or not, you should always support your troops. Sometimes, you should even support the enemy troops.

They just do the fighting.

I may not like or agree with the political decisions to send British troops. But by and large I do support them. We have a volunteer army, if people did not volunteer we would have conscription/national service (it would be naive to think that no volunteers = no army). I am neither brave nor fit enough to do what they do and I will be the first to say so. I have to have some respect for what they do and cannot help but feel deep sorrow when the bodies of the fallen are re-patriated (this is almost always reported on television - do other countries cover this the same or is it hidden from the people?).

Wait, I have troops? FUCK YEAH, I'm marching to Washington!

But in all due seriousness, as much as I loathe war and anyone who supports it, I loathe senseless violence and unnecessary death even more. Even though I'd jump the country before signing up for the army, I still don't want any more people to die than already have. So yeah, I guess I support them.

Whether you like what they're doing or not. every soldier has the right to come home to his family. War is not my voice, i have a choice.

EDIT: Woah, 1300 posts? its weird because i haven't looked at it in a loooong time

I support them fully, even up to the extent of hopefully joining them in a few months time

Absolutely. I come from a military family, my GF is a retired Captain in the Army and, had they allowed women to do the fun jobs, I'd have joined the Navy. Any man, woman (or child) who offers their life to server their country (be it as a soldier or a firefighter, police officer, et al) deserves support and respect.

And yeah, I said cops, I don't care wot the flavor-of-the-month "anarchists" and "cop-haters" say, they can try and be anti-cop all they want, I'm willing to bet they change their tune when they need a cop.

I do not support the coalition and ISAF troops in Afghanistan or Iraq though.
It's not as if the troops have a choice in their deployment...
My gf's former 101st Airborne unit just deployed there and she is chomping at the bit to go because she feels a duty to both do the job she was trained to do (and agreed to do when joining the military) and to be there to protect her soldiers. I hate the fact that folks are there, too, and Iraq, but I can't blame the soldiers for following orders.

Of course. They mostly sign up for good reasons, so I'd like if they could kill the enemy and come home alive.

The people who fight in wars are immensely different than the people who started it; that was the whole point of The Postman.

Apologies Abound

Even if I don't agree with war I still support my countries troops.
Maybe it's got something to do with my being in the Air Force.
Don't know.
