Yahtzee is, above all things, an entertainer. He mostly just reviews just for fun and the general entertainment of the internet. That being said, I completely agree with him on several points; every game he has declared to be good I have played and they are extremely good. I even downloaded Painkiller on Steam and it is fucking awesome. Really though, do you need someone else to tell you how to spend your money? If that is the case, send it all to me. Now!

I don't think even yahtzee takes his reviews seriously since he has said that he is mean to games on purpose to make them more funny :p And he doesn't like oblivian :p which makes his opinion invalid =D

[HEADING=2]FOR THE LAST TIME YAHTZEE DOES NOT DO REVIEWS AS HE IS A CRITIC NOT A REVIEWER BIG DIFFERENCE!!![/HEADING]

OT: No I don't as Yahtzee is not a reviewer he is a critic/comedian nothing he ever says should be taken 100% seriously as all of his videos are full of ridiculous hyperbalae.

I like Yahtzee's videos, but I don't rely on them to help form an opinion on whether or not to buy a game. If I did, my collection would consist of only Portal aaaaaand... hm... well, Portal.

That said, he is quite funny and he does sneak in the occasional good point, so I do look forward to his videos every Wednesday.

I would never make a judgement on whether or not I buy a game based on Yahtzee's criticism. The videos are entertaining and he does point out valid issues, but I don't take his opinion seriously. His job is to mock games and get us to laugh at their strange conventions and mistakes, not sell them to us. That being said, I think his Dante's Inferno review was spot op.

Of course, as you should with any review (and maybe even more so in ZP's case as it's as much about comedy as it is about game criticism).

Reviews are opinions and not facts. You should never take an opinion without considering the bias and intent of the person giving the opinion.

I watch ZP for entertainment only. I don't take much of what he says seriously and I don't buy games based on his views.

I had a bit of a debate with a friend about this recently, he was completely adament about Yahtzee being right on everything and if he says a games bad then it is. I disagree entirely though, I feel that most of the points made are completely blown out of proportion or don't effect the gameplay in any way.

The reviews are however absolutely hilarious so I take them as what they are: comedy.

Why is everyone saying it's comedy instead of review? It's exactly like he said when he said his inspiration is Charlie Brooker. He's savage and brilliant, and his points are generally completely on the money. If you don't agree then feel free to disagree, but don't denigrate his value as a reviewer (plus, you know, he wouldn't give a shit).

He's a human with an opinion. So is everyone. That's kind of the point of the escapist.

yeah I do.

If I took his reviews seriously I would end up just not buying a game.

Absolutely. I've played games where I've disagreed with him and games that I've fully agreed with him.

Overall it's just a different perspective intended for entertainment.

You'd have to be a fool to take the negative points of Yahtzee's videos seriously since they are exaggerated infinitely until they have some comedic value, but I disagree with most of his positive points too (for example I think Sands Of Time is a very mediocre game and the Fatal Frame series beats the shit out of Silent Hill 2), so I usually just ignore him and have a few laughs with his wordplay.

Gee ya think? It's impossible not to, you're never going to agree with him fully on a serious level, because I care weather I laugh or not.

with boulders of salt, but he always has good points. sometimes his reviews are reason to not buy a game.

If anyone took Yahtzee's reviews seriously no one would play videogames anymore. It's just for gun. He's shit on plenty of games I loved. Didn't stop me from and enjoying them or his reviews.

Some people need to look up the definition of 'review'.

OT: ZP is just some fun. He makes some good points and can generally get away saying stuff that other reviewers can't, but I would never base a decision to buy a game off one of his videos.

I bought The Conduit before and after his review. No regrets. I loved the Smash Bros Brawl review because it was hilarious and I'm a huge fan of Brawl. His Wii reviews are just bad. So..no I don't listen to him.
You bought The Conduit twice?
