Do you take yahtzee's reviews with a grain of salt?

I watch his videos because they're bloody funny. I've no interest in most of the games he reviews. It is nice though that he takes the bad points of a game and blows them up.
Too many review sites have GREAT GREAT GREAT (slight bad thing) GREAT GREAT GO BUY THIS GAME!!
Also, most of his reviews on games come out a week or two after the game, which is a week or two after I've made up my mind on buying it or not, eg ME2, DA:O.

Odd a thread like this always happens to pop up always around every Wednesday especially when Yahtzee posts something...I wonder what the connection is.
Actually, I do because it's interesting to see when someone has a valid point against something you like
My friends actually told me about ZP simply because the way I tend to view games are very similar to Yahtzee and well my friend. I sometimes disagree with him but that has more to do with not being a hive mind than him being wrong. In the end it's an opinion and you don't have to give a damn what he or anyone says.
I however do share his views on planescape: torment as it is an amazing game that I like a fool bought a few copies of when it was a 10$ package deal at walmart and gave them away to friends -.-
His reviews aren't a here's whats good here's what sucks, you can get that anywhere instead he tells you how this game is shit and then says was it worth it.

I take his reviews as they are. Valid points from the average gamer, which some nob jokes.
seriously, he's biased against multiplayer, fighting games and JRPGs because he doesn't like them.
I don't like racing games or casual games. It's just a matter of taste. If it's for a genre he doesn't like I'll not really take it on board and just view it as a piece of harmless entertaiment but if it's a genre I like, and he likes, then I'll probably let his review influence whether or not I get it.

I find his 'reviews' funny and in most cases brutally honest. But what I find really funny is the general feel I seem to be getting from a majority of the posts on this thread.

Are you so undecisive that you need some one elses opinion to get you over the hump on if its worth buying or not? And if you already own it, play it, and enjoy it: Does it even matter if he likes it or not? Does Yahtzees opinion carry such weight that you actually thought about not playing the game again out of fear of becoming a gamer pariah?

Grain of salt? You leave with what you took with ya. If you care that much about how he reviews a game it wouldnt matter if he said it was pure shyt or solid gold. Either way you'd be sitting there stewing over how wrong he is, or calling your friends bragging about how "yahtzee said what I thinking."
Whats really sad is how people can get so mad over something so trival. Hating the guy becuase he trashed a game you love proves only that you need some one else to give you an opinion your too scared to make on your own. And just like every other person who's asked for advice and you get the exact opposite of what you expected your first course of action is to cry scream and shout about how wrong that person is, and how you know soooo much better....rofl.

They're hilarious and I don't give two shits if he tears apart a game I like, sometimes he's right! I just don't get pissy about it, they're not meant to be taken seriously.
I like Super Smash Bros Brawl and I loved his review of it because it was humorous. I also loved his Hate Mail follow-up because fanboys/girls make me laugh. HARD. Get over yourselves.

I take some of Yahtzee's critisms seriously, some not. If he gives a lot of complaints about the gameplay of a certain game, I remember it and remind myself of it if I rent the game, so that I can brace myself for crap here and there. But if he's just complaining about the story of the game itself, I would care less about that. Granted, yes, I enjoy a great story with my video games almost as he does, but I still consider it's gameplay more important in the end. I loved Silent Hill 2, Portal, and other games Yahtzee said that he enjoyed for their story and gameplay, but I liked games such the JRPG's and the Force Unleashed that he doesn't like much for their stories but their gameplay is still ok. In the end, he's a critic and reviewer, one of my favorite one's I might add, but it's still up to the viewer themselves about whether or not they'll like a game. And to do that, you have to play it yourself.
