Commercially, sure. But I'm still sceptical about whether or not it will be good.
I'm going to buy it anyway.

Be prepared to. Hype barely ever gets lived up to.ServebotFrank said:This game will cure cancer, it will regrow my broken teeth, it will be with me at all times when I go out in case of AIDS. It better do all of that or I will sit in my bathroom and cry a river.
But the movie industry has Die Hard and The Expendables etc, and it is still considered art.Daedalus1942 said:We can only hope that it doesn't do well.
Then maybe with any luck, the franchise will die in the arse, and I'll never have to here about that miserable excuse for a first person shooter ever again.
Here's hoping. Games like Duke Nukem are the reason we can't be taken seriously by outsiders and why games won't be classed an art form. It really is just neanderthal crap.

You pretty much summed up everything I was going to say. Fun but not mind bendingly awe inspiring. I've played the demo by the way and fun is all I can say for it (Manabar FTW). One other thing I will say though is that I was so disappointed they conformed to the "2 weapons at a time" standard. I was hoping they would go the oldschool/Painkiller path and let you have every gun at once and go your hardest.Skoldpadda said:Like this dude above me said,Gearbox are the guys for the job. Now that it's out of the hands of that fat tard George Broussard and his team, and in the hands of a capable and responsible company, it will be a competent, enjoyable, if not groundbreaking game. And that's all that matters. For 50 euro, we'll get a fun single-player shooter with a fun multiplayer experience. Word of mouth will get around and it will sell accordingly.
I'm sure this game will turn out well.
No, it will not be the second coming of Christ. Of course it won't. It doesn't have to be.
Thats good, i'd rather they copy Half Life 2 (which hasnt been copied for a good few years now)Vykrel said:it probably wont live up to the hype, but with Gearbox behind it now, it will surely be a good game... if not a great game.
im predicting an average review score of like 8.5-9.0
also, the feel of the game seems similar to Half-Life 2, which i absolutely love
cant wait
Well Gearbox's name will be on the box, and while the industry may know the story if they release a bad, and poor selling game it will hurt their image. Sort of like "I'm not buying another Bethesda game since New Vegas was so bad" or "I'm not getting Deus Ex because Final Fantasy XIII was really bad".mindlesspuppet said:Most people fully realize 3Drealms did the bulk of the work. Even if it's awful, and I doubt it will be, I can't imagine many will blame Gearbox. If anything people will be thankful Gearbox finally got the damn thing out.Judgement101 said:I just don't want Gearbox's reputation destroied.mindlesspuppet said:Yes, I think it will be successful. Gaming needs Duke.
It doesn't matter if it lives up to the hype. Hype gets copies sold, that's all that matters.Judgement101 said:It's been over a decade, it WILL fail. They hype it has to live up to is extremely unreasonable. My final sentece shall be as such. Good bye Gearbox, I was hoping for another Borderlands but now that you will be going under, I guess Borderlands 2 will never exsist.
