Nope. It will be the last Bungie made Halo game.

The rights have been sold to Microsoft's 343 Studios, headed by Marty O'Donnell. They are never ever going to stop making these games.

It's like the Rolling Stones going on a farewell tour and actually meaning it, it's not going to happen.
Awesome Dr Cox reference

OT: Sitting here staring at my game collection I can say I own Halo 1-3 & ODST... & I have no doubt that Reach will join them at some point. I think after that though I'd defy MS & use another Dr Cox reference

They say it will be the last and its a good thing too. Halo Wars and Halo:ODST were awful! this one seems to improvement from halo wars and halo odst. so leave it on a good note before it goes 100% stale.

It'll be the last Halo game if Microsoft has finally had enough of making lots of money.

It will be Bungie's last Halo game. At least for a while. They may revisit the franchise later down the line.

Microsoft's 343 Industries will be continuing to produce Halo related content like spin offs ala Halo Wars or short movies like Halo legends. Any other Halo games are released down the line are probably going to be part of a different genre (like Halo Wars) or if the are shooters they would probably have different gameplay(third person, squad based, etc) I highly doubt that 343 is going to make a Halo 4 with the same gameplay. At least they better not.

Dear God...there's so much money left to be made, but storyline they've got nowhere to go anymore. So I think they should end it, but Microsoft is a corporation...thus, money needs to be made...
What the hell? Storyline they have plenty more to go. There's the cliffhanger regarding Master Chief and Cortana at the end of Halo 3, cliffhanger regarding the Spirit of Fire at the end of Halo Wars, not to mention all the various plots covered by the books that could potentially be expanded on. For instance, I'd love to see a game dealing with Sgt. Johnson and the other Spartan-Is, and the Insurrection. Or a game based around one of the suicide missions that the Spartan-IIIs underwent...

OT: No, it won't be the end. And I hope it isn't either, Halo is a good thing and I thoroughly enjoy it. The haters don't need to play it, so their complaints are nothing but idiotic flames. I really hope that this isn't the end, definitely :).

Bungie have said that they want to move on to something else, but I guess nothing stops the IP being bought and handed over to someone else.

I highly doubt they will let this game series die

I persoanlly like the series a lot I think the lore and universe in incredibly detailed and I thik there is much to do and learn hell they could make games were your playing as marines more in locations totally unrelated to earth sort of an ODST but everywhere

don't forget that at the end of Halo 3 master chief is still alive and just put into cryo

will bungie stop making them? maybe, forever probably not

I would like to see more as long as the story is good also more episodic games rather than trilogies would be nice

No chance. Bungie says it will be their last Halo game, but MS has already established an in house studio to handle future development in the Halo universe (Studio 343 I believe?).

As a Halo fan, even I'll admit this makes me nervous. I've been a fan of older series that have changed development houses (Jet Moto and Twisted Metal come to mind immediately) and the post change games have always been worse than the originals.

It is the last Official Halo game as said by Bungie. After, Reach, an new IP. A part of the core Halo team is staying behind as 343 Industries in Microsoft and will continue to manage the Halo IP. What what I've heard, this means DLC and the such. Not new games.

Stop yo bitchin' son! Halo Wars did an excellent job trying to adapt full RTS controls to the Xbox which was Hell of an challenge. To do that, they had to cut down too many things. It was a noble effort on Ensemble's part. Not to mention, the cut scenes were epic and units diverse.

As for ODST, really stop bitching. You payed 60 dollars for what I think is a really good campaign.

The characters were much better and had some real depth to them for once.
Amazing voice acting from an amazing cast.
New game play
Firefight
Content compared to other expansion packs
New Mombasa (I LOVED THIS CITY)
And of vcourse, the Reach Beta.
