I mainly just buy games based on how good they seem to me from gameplay videos etc. I don't trust reviews much, other than the ones I read in PC Gamer, and even then I base whether I think I will enjoy the game or not based on the actual review instead of the score at the end.

EDIT: Also, welcome to the Escapist!

I don't trust gamespot. Not after what happened with Kane and Lynch.

IGN I sometimes read reviews, but I don't base my buying decisions off them.

Usually I rent a game to see if its good, and if I like it, I buy it.

It is not a good idea to choose to buy a game from one sole review, you ned at least 2 or 3. Or seven, if you are like me, and you "just don't know...."

The only game site I trust re: reviews is Gametrailers as it lets you see the game in action and so helps me decide whether I'll like it or not. Other then that, its usually word of mouth or brand recognician (I'm a sucker for sequals)

I'd never buy/not buy a game on the basis of one review, probably not even 2 or 3. I always see if I can see if there's any videos of gameplay on the internet, that way you can really see what the games like. Or just play it round a friends first =D

I don't trust most review sites, since reviews are something very subjective anyway, even without all the money involved. The only one I sometimes check is Metacritic because at least it shows less of a bias than some sites since it's an average, but other than that the only thing I trust is word of mouth from people I know and of course first-hand experience.

Not so much anymore, used to trust gamespot because the crew they had really loved games, but they've all gone now and i keep seeing mistakes made in the reviews ever since.

Gametrailers haven't done me wrong yet, Giantbomb is my favorite.

I still use Gamespot forums, usually alot of answers for things in them and i can quickly see critic scores for each game from the site, but thats it.

I watch reviews just for fun. But i don't base my decision on them. I mean, if I trusted zp I would never buy any games...

About as far as I can throw them. But seriously, I read the reviews and don't pay any attention to the scores, since there is always that pesky subjective element - what I want to know is how a title works, whether it has design flaws, etc. Basically I want to have an accurate description of the game, I could care less what reviewers personally thought about it.

I draw my own conclusions on whether or not the game they describe sounds enjoyable to me.

I like to check the reader vs. critics numbers at metacritic.com - If the readers / posters agree with the critics that game A is good (or bad), I'll trust that. If there is a big discrepancy (usually readers crucifying a game, critics loving it), I dig a bit deeper or pass on the title all together.

I don't really bother reading reviews, I look at features and decide for myself.
Oh, and I ask friends' opinions.

I trust reading a wide variety of reviews, particularly the ones that go into some depth about why it got suchandsuch a rating. Then I take the reason, adjust to my personal taste, check Metacritic for a cross reference, and decide from there. Gametrailers is the one place I tend to give a better weighted average to. They always seem to do a pretty thorough job, and they have earned my trust. But for entertainment, its all about the wisdom of crowds.
