Faerie girl in hiding

I think the most I've ever hid my geekiness was that I walked past a person a few days ago and their T-shirt had the GDI symbol on it, and I didn't say something witty. I couldn't think of anything though.

However...

Last year, someone walked past with a T-shirt with the brotherhood of Nod symbol on it, and I said "Kane lives in death!" to them. I thought it was hilarious. Can't remember what they thought.

So I'm at a net zero in terms of hiding/displaying but probably listed as a Nod sympathiser.

Worrying.

Hell no. If you can't handle my nerdiness then you are a shallow bastard who doesn't deserve my respect let alone be my friend

I gave up years ago, since it's really a good portion of what makes me me. The other 40% is talking about gay things and doing art.

...of course, my art really qualifies as a geeky inclination.

But geek is my identity, and I couldn't hide it without becoming another bland face in the crowd.

Absolutely not, a few times I've corrected people about certain terms in psychology and the difference between bipolar disorder and ADD/ADHD. Also, I'm not sure if this counts, but my friends says it does.

While at Gamestop with my girlfriend, I overheard this customer talking to the staff about Red Dead Redemption(I happened to be trading it in while I was there) and how they were having trouble completing the Sharpshooter Rank 10 challenge.(Disarm any 6 enemies without reloading or changing weapons)The staff were completely stumped and I turned to customer and said, "Just take cover behind the bar in Blackwater and have the Mauser Pistol out, aim down the sights and every NPC with a gun will draw his, go into Deadeye mode and aim for the guns. You should get it no problem." The staff just looked at me and the guy said I should be working there instead of them.

I couldn't even begin to understand why anyone would feel the need to hide such a normal part of their personality. Sure, if it was something illegal or morally frowned-upon, hide it all you want... but, last I checked, having geeky hobbies isn't likely to see you thrown in jail or cast out of your community.

Screw what other people think. Be yourself and be proud of it. If you feel the need to change your actions for fear of what others might say, you're giving them far more power over you than they should rightly have. This doesn't just go for hiding geeky inclinations.

I think i'm a minority here by saying 'yes'. Especially around my girl friends, I don't want to be seen as the 'girl geek', though I totally am. I'm socially awkward enough without branding myself further.

Well, I don't usually broadcast it. If people see the shirt, I normally get a "Nice shirt" and have only once ran into someone who knew that it was a meme.
lol I love the Three Wolf Moon [http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/three-wolf-moon] shirt!!! I own one too but only as a joke...

I don't make any attempt to hide it, particularly, but I don't bring up references out of the blue, nor do I wear geeky t-shirts or listen to soundtracks from games, for example.

If I'm talking with someone who I think will get what I'm talking about, I might make reference to video game, a sci-fi series, whatever, but... not often, really. I'm much more likely to refer to a piece of stand-up I've seen, or something about history or myth.

Yes. My family and most of my friends aren't as nerdy as I am, so I only talk about nerdy things if someone else is talking about it.

There's no point in hiding. I don't believe in living a life that isn't mine. A good lie, though, now that's just fun to tell.

No. I want it, though. Could use it for my trip to Israel or to visit a Jewish family I know.

Amusingly enough, the family would laugh at it.

IRL, yes mostly. That is because I live in hippieville and no one plays video games here as a main hobby. When I do that its basically alienating myself.

Not really no. Everyone knows that I love video games and know the most out of them all about electronics. They all accept it and don't care at all, even the girl I like knows and likes me for it a bit more...though she tries to keep me from playing so much.

Anyone who judges you based on your interests isn't worth talking to, so no, I don't hide my geekiness.

What I do is stay neutral in all conversations never throwing attention at myself. The people that accuse me of such things, even if they know 100% I still say no. (Usually because I don't like them) The one other person that I ever said yes to, is the same person who shares my fantasies and realities more so then my family. What does that say about me?
