Mmmm you know dead or alive has been around since....well a long time ago in the psone era, and it has always been a "fan service" game, the guy in the interview couldn't express it right, as a matter of fact he made it reallly crappy, but yes the thing is japan is japan, you see in japan there are games like DOA, wich is only fan service for guys, umm project diva? and other stuff like that, then we have hardcore stuff sex involved or ecchi games ._. of coruse these are directed towards male audience but, you see theres a genre's for female gamers/otakus:

As you can see, males are drawn in a very girly way, female japanese otaku find these atractive and its way ok, theres a large market for this kind of manga, and after reading lots of this let me tell you,some are really good i dont quite like the way they are drawn but i do enjoy the story, most of these are drawn/wrote by women.

Now theres also shonen ai wich means "boys love"

Yup those girly boys are ussually kising each other and exploring a new world in these mangas/dohijns and once again japanese women/girls like this kind of stuff and as above its often write/drawn by women.

We have shoujo ai , wich means girl loveXD guess what are stories about girls loving girls and before you jump and said thats such a male fantasy, this mangas/anime are also for girls maria sama would be a good example

These one actually made it into the rest of the world it's called animamundi dark alchemist and yes, its shounen ai, i played it and, well..... i didn't loved the whole guy vs guy stuff xD but the story its QUITE good...

women/girls that enjoy this kind of material are called fujoshi, theres a lot of fujoshi in japan as there are otakus, so yeah i dont totally understand why there are fujoshi, i could said that its sexualisation of male here but trully you know what, i dont give a $%#$&! if there's girls that enjoy portraying male like that, and more importantly if they live in japan I CARE EVEN LESS, but hey do what you want you're in your right to call dead or alive, or hitman or whatever sexist, im also in my right of buying it if i like it, and fujoshi are in their right to draw males the way they like xD, what i do think its things shouldnt get banned just because they get you, or me or someone else offended.

There are some of the worst arguments ever in this forum.

It's great how because some men like having muscles, suddenly no women can find them attractive or something. Because muscles = "power fantasy" (or whatever other convenient excuse to dismiss someone can come up with) all women apparently prefer a bunch of fat guys now.

Additionally, because some men find women in skimpy clothing to be attractive, suddenly no woman ever wants to look like that or desires to look like that ever. And women definitely can't fantasize about having an appearance that men find attractive.

Also, good shot at the "it's impractical" arguments. People, for the most part, don't always wear what's "practical" because what's practical is often ugly.

I love how the answer to not stereotyping women or limiting them to a few personality types is to... assume they all hate something.

I don't think see what the big deal is x.x DOA has always had fists thrown and boobs a bouncin, and it's never lowered my view on women nor has it given me the idea that the developers are sexist. In all honesty the game could be naked with the girls blowing one another in a lesbian like fashion, this actually the cleanest pandering I've seen in any medium with a product that still strives to be good within it's medium. The boob physics have never taken away from the game, and you could argue that the game should have bouncing dicks to even the score with overly sexualized characters, but since I don't think sexualizing them as a form of discrimination is the goal, I don't see them needing to justify their action by evening the playing field.

I mean have people on the escapist not seen some animes? Have you not seen what they as a culture do pandering wise with female characters? I mean. is it in all anime's? No. There are very mature animes that cover serious themes and have alot of depth. However, there are lots of anime's that also pander like no tomorrow, and if you think jiggle physics are an abomination to gaming, then heaven help you if you experience the other parts of their culture that don't meld with yours.

Maybe instead of (Some of) the Escapist using it's cultural bias to bash the game, they should take a deeper look into Japanese culture and try to understand why it's ok and accepted there. American culture, and indeed any cultures moral and social views are subjective and not necessarily right. We shouldn't force our views on them in telling them what shouldn't or should be in their game,, and like wise, they DON'T FORCE YOU TO BUY OR PLAY THEIR PRODUCT. If the boobs bother you so much, ignore them and play the friggin game, or just don't buy the game at all. They've stated they aren't changing the game for you. They're not bitches like bioware who changes just because some of the consumers throw a hissy fit in response to their decisions. They are not afraid to stand up for what they want to see in their games, and they are entitled to whatever they want without YOUR discrimination.

Games and series' of games exist because consumers back them with their purchase and a support, and DOA has existed for years representing the games product.(Tits and fists and all)

With that said, if some female developers (and males too if they want) want to even the score and create a game with dick physics for a new type of fighting game aimed at women, then more power to em. If it's good, I'll play it. If not, then like any game with a quirky gimmick, if it doesn't hold up on it's own merits, then I, like many others, won't pay it any mind at all.
