LOVED IT!

"The ship is going down..."

*Looks up to camera, a pained expression etched across her face*

"Christmas is cancelled!"

Is it me, or did the female (captain?) of the ship put a little bit more emphasis on Chistmas being cancelled compared to her rather "everyday" delivery of the ship about to crash? Made me lol!

Also chuckled at the Doctor's entrance:

"Ah, yes, sorry. Chistmas eve on a rooftop, saw a chimney and my whole brain just went, what the hell!"

Matt Smith really embodies what I always thought the Doctor should be, a very, very childish but incredibly intelligent man. Who says you can't be a genius AND enjoy jumping down chimneys for the hell of it? Priceless!

Honest to God, I was sneak attacked by tears when the old guy met himself as a child...

Overall though, I don't think it could have been better.
Brilliant episode.

Who gives a crap it was probably breaking some previously set law, I thought that reveal was fantastic.
That's the one thing you always have to remember, Drama trumps Logic. In spades.
Me and my mate thought this through: Seems that the Reapers show up when someone who should have died doesn't. That way, it's no longer a problem when someone touches themselves (no, not like that!). The touching-self thing only seems to make them stronger.

I also didn't remember typing what you quoted. Realised you changed it :p

It was an entertaining watch thats for sure, far better than any of T Davies specials. A bit more background story would have been good though.

Didn't a whole load of nasty creatures appear last time someone touched their past self owing to the whole paradox imploding time itself thing?
Good riddance. That shit didn't even make sense. It was just a stupid way to justify why they couldn't be bothered to write a decent paradox story.

I really enjoyed this year's special. It felt Christmassy and yet not cheesy, fun but not over the top. The visuals were just stunning, icy, cold and beautiful, and the music, well, Murry Gold's done it again.
I think out of the specials since the start of the re-boot this has to be one of the best. It was a good little story, it wasn't about forming new continuity, it wasn't a Doctor's swansong, it wasn't about laying ground work for the new series with introducing compainions and charecters, it was a story about a bad man, a good girl, a young boy and saving the day.

I'm definately looking forward to next series, looks, to quote Doctor9, "Fantastic!".

I'm sorry, are you kidding me? Really? Riding a flying shark in the snow that was caused by Katherine Jenkins singing into half of a sonic screwdriver isn't over the top? And the 'oh now you've become nice the isomorphic machine can't recognise you' isn't just cheese, it's a rich, creamy camembert.

That rant over, I actually liked it (just about). But it seemed as if it had some cool ideas first, and concerned itself with fitting them in coherently second. I liked a lot of it, but too much bore the stitches of its writing for me to unreservedly enjoy it. My main problem was the whole "oh we'll have to have Katherine Jenkins singing a pretty Christmas song in the snow. This somehow means the spaceship lands fine". If you can explain to me how that made any goddamn sense I would love to hear it. Enough to like about, but too much to dislike about it for me to feel entirely comfortable.

I prefer matt smith when he's being a bit dark, didn't do much of that this episode. Next series looks good though.

The best part and what really made the special for me was that we thought it would be Earth but we realise that it's another planet. It felt really good to have a special on colony. Every other one has been on Earth. It was a nice break.

I cringed at the cheese of "Christmas is cancelled." ><
Michael Gambon was excellent. Fantastic even! ;)

I was so happy that Amy was barely in it. When she had lines I was gritting my teeth... do. not. like. her.

Next series looks good. NAZIS! :p Ood, again? well... \(o_O)/
Very happy that they have left sets and fecking Cardiff and gone on proper American location. Let's hope that episode has a lot of outdoors because honestly that scene with the Jeep driving up the dirt road felt like such a breath of fresh air. I want more of that kind of footage int he new seasons.

Why jump the shark when you can harness it and ride off into the snow filled sky.
Hah.

Got to say this episode left me a little bit disappointed. So the villain is letting 4000 people die because "nah, i dont care i'd rather be pestered constantly about it than to hit a button". That is just bad writing. This wasn't about having other people suffer like he did this is about him being a badly written character.

They seem to be pushing Doctor Who to be "The Aslan" further and further. Yes. We know. He's space Jesus. Now drop it.
