I can't really think of anything else for him to do on Doctor Who anyway, Torchwood is his home now. But considering that Stephen Moffat said no past companions are returning I don't think we'll see him in the Tardis again... but then he did say he was going to give the Daleks a rest for awhile.
Ahh, I did not hear that Stephen Moffat had said no companions would be returning.

The Daleks are resting....

By resting I mean creating enough of themselves to fill the next 20 series.
Well at least now they look like genocidal Power Rangers.
Well there's that...

I do like that they have gone back to the idea of different coloured Daleks from the early movies
It is quite refreshing that they have colour instead of a gun metal colour. I just hope they diversitise them well being that they now have different colours and ranks.

I was wondering though, if they created new Daleks would they all be one colour of a soldier or would each new Dalek have a different colour, because that could be slightly problematic if they wish to create an army.

Well one of the Daleks in 'Victory of the Daleks' was called "Drone" (the red one I believe) so I would assume they will mass produce the 'Drone' Dalek for their armies.

My guess with these new Daleks is we're probably going to end up with the group we've got for a bit, then the ranks to expend, so a clutch of red drone soldier Daleks, but we'll probably only have one shiny white supreeme Dalek. That's only a theory of course.
(Edit: gah, beaten to the line by TimeLord!)

Back-tracking to the original topic: I really enjoyed this weeks episode. The diologe was top notch and the subtle phycology was excellent. Although the Doctor was really flipant at the end about who the Dream Lord was, the bit with the reflection was a nice touch as it gave a little hint that actually the Dream Lord scared him. Also, I like the subtle reference to the Doctor's self-loathing. Poor Doc, he get's such a hard time and now he's been messed with by his own sub-conscience!

Yeah that makes sense, red is the colour of deadly, deadly war. I get the feeling the "Eternal" Dalek is going to be there new way of escaping anything that tries to make them dead then.

I just loved the way at the end the Doctor went "cold sun ha!" finally the weak science is pointed out to be made up bullsh*t for the dream.

Yes, I am interested to see where they go with the "Eternal"

I really enjoyed it.

I really liked at the end where the Doctor catches the reflection of the Dream Lord in the Tardis Console implying that it still may be a dream.
Or that the Dream Lord could be a real enemy and the Doctor wasn't telling the whole truth
Or maybe that the Dream Lord's physical representation of the Doctor's negativity and self hatred is closer to the surface than was previously thought.
I would have accepted that if his negativity and self hatred was phased in a bit more, but they have just suddenly dropped it on us.

I hope they develop it more in a later episode/series and don't include it in this series' finale.
What are you talking about? Although Doctor's 'darkside' is an informed flaw more often than not, his self-doubt and hatred because of it has been brought up constantly.
The guilt for failing to save the day without sacrifice comes up even more often.

There's really nothing sudden about it.

I watched the confidential episode for that and they said it was just something they chose because it sounded good, they might write something in for it later but they currently have no plans.

Yea I saw that too, obviously Stephen Moffat had to approve it though so I would hope he has plans for that one

I liked the episode. It was kinda trippy. Though I do have one small qualm with it, in the fact that it was hardly original. Clearly somebody has been playing Resident Evil 4 whilst thinking of a new storyline :p
Mind you, the plagas are now in the mouth and all the villagers are old. Love it when he throws on old woman off a building though XD

They're really pushing the character development with this series aren't they? That's not a good thing by the way. We're only seven episodes in and Amy is already being forced to choose between the Doctor and her bloke, even though it's painfully obvious that she wouldn't choose the Doctor.

It almost feels like they know these characters aren't going to be around for very long, which is a shame because although I've admitted before I'm not their biggest fans I'll allow they could grow on me, it's not happened yet but it's still possible.

Getting sick of Amy making all the big decisions though.

Overall it was an average episode, certainly one of the better ones of this series. Not that they could get much worse after victory of the Daleks and Vampires in Venice.

OOOOHH MY GAHD, IT WAS THE BEST THING I'VE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE!

In all seriousness, I thought this was the best episode of the series so far. If all the episodes after this one are as good, then it looks like we've got a rival to series 3, my personal favourite.
Blink? It cannot beat Blink.

[small]can it?[/small]

I was thinking it was somehow the master while watching it, but the end explanation kind of ruined that idea.
For most the episode, I also thought it was a new plan the master was cookin' up, or another time lord. I don't know how all these other people "worked it out" (beyond just knowing that both worlds were dream worlds, the fact that dream lord = the doctor seems impossible to have known).

OT: Sign me up for a seat on the "this ep was brilliant" bus. I thought it was the finest showcasing of the new aspects inherent in the new series (plenty of zany asides, great character development, raises a lot of questions about future eps, etc). It still felt short, as the new eps all feel a bit short (not sure what they're doing different), but I feel like they pulled it off a lot better this time.

Also, finally a creative antagonist (not from an earlier series), which isn't just here to eat everything and/or destroy the planet!

Its been on the cards from the second half of the "Angels" episode that the Doctor is actually fighting himself. I'm not sure if this has been discussed in another thread or not but if you go back to the scene where The Doctor is leaving Amy in the Cyberforest so he can go do this "thing in progress" he comes back and is a bit more caring towards her and tell her to trust him.

However, in that brief moment (remember Amy and the guards cannot see him) he is back wearing his jacket and has rolled up sleeves and asks her to remember what he told her when she was young, a repeated theme in the series. If you want to go check this out yourself its about 17:20 mins in.

Thoughts?

I think he means "The Changeling" from Season 6, uses Dreams but doesn't really have much else in common with this episode of Doctor Who.
