i found it annoying...

seriously he knew what to do to get out of the dream the entire freaking time. He knew the enemy and he knew they were both dreams, and just acted like they werent for giggles.

I loved it. Much better than previous episodes with unforgivably obvious crack in the wall and pathetic enemies (They ruined the Weeping Angels). Much more cerebral too. I like that sort of thing.

Personally, I feel that The Doctor catching a glimpse of The Dreamlord in his reflection was merely a way of pointing out that all of The Dreamlords rage and hate for The Doctor was part of The Docotr himself, and how he feels about his actions.

I agree, this was a really good episode. One of the best so far i think, next week doesn't look as interesting but it should still be good.

Why doesn't the Doctor ever get a girl? :( I feel sorry for him.
He gets girls he just sends them away for one reason or another (usually because he is committed to his lifestyle), I was annoyed when Amy hinted at her interest in the Doctor, we already had the whole unrequited love thing with Martha.

Who watches Doctor Who anyway? I thought it was a bit shit after the first "new" series.
Pretty much everyone in the thread except you it seems.

Well at least now they look like genocidal Power Rangers.

On Topic, this was the best episode yet, it has restored my faith in the series after the worst episode of doctor who I have ever seen (Victory of the daleks).

Yeah the angels episode was good too, but it took me a while to get rid of the bile from the partiotic, illogical (even for doctor who), ridiculous scum of the third episode.

Doctor: I think there's an elephant in the room...
Amy: It's called being pregnant, can we drop it now?!
Best line of the season

Trying to sort it out now >.<

Damn this new fangled 'Tech..nology!' It should be simple, like reversing the polarity!

Apparently Russell T Davies has said many times that this throw-away line could easily be circumvented by a bit of new technobabble:

I found it to be a bit of a cocktease. Here was me thinking the Celestial Toymaker was going to be the Obligatory Recycled Classic Villain for this season, (I mean, with the Pandorica, 'The Toymaker's Brigade' in Turn Left and the fact that he was a primary villain of 2, who Matt Smith sees to be showing serious vibes of) but instead it just turnedout to be the Doc.

That all said, I loved this episode. Really well done with a really compelling concept.

I like the idea of foreshadowing the Valeyard though.

Holy crap I just thought of something. The Dreamlord seemed like an evil version of the Doctor, or at least one who is less morally strong. A character who sounds a lot like The Valeyard .

Now, while this is unlikely, and yeah, does contradict the information on that page slightly, I think it would be amazing if they linked the two characters somehow.
He also reminded me a bit of the <url=http://tardis.wikia.com/wiki/Celestial_Toymaker>Celestial Toymaker, though admittedly not as much as the Valeyard. He did seem to be giving off some Master vibes as well.
Maybe this fella is what will eventually become the Valeyard, when the Time Lords download him from the Doctor's timestream.

Relatedly, if the Valeyard was created by taking all the evil from between the Doctor's twelfth and last incarnations (as the Master claims in Mindwarp, if memory serves), does this mean that after he regenerates for the twelfth time he'll have a period of being overtly nice to people and apologising a lot? It'd be funny, if nothing else.

EDIT: Ninja'd.

It was the Trickster's Brigade in Turn Left. The Trickster himself pops up occasionally in The Sarah Jane Adventures, including the episode with David Tennant in it.
And I believe the Silurians are coming up, which fills the "recycled villain" slot - although the Silurians themselve weren't as outright villainous as other classic-series aliens (especially the Daleks and Cybermen). Mayhap we'll see some Sea Devils too.

Russel T Davies is an ass though. He also believes cliffhangers aren't necessary, half the aliens are gay and there is no such thing as canon. He's the George Lucas of Dr Who.

I thought that the whole evil pensioners thing reminded me a fair amount of Hot Fuzz. Also I was so pleased when the "cold star" nonsense turned out to be a dream, the astronomer in me found it VERY irritating!
